Certainly you know as well as anyone that the medical profession is based on second opinions.
How do you know there was no other physician on the plane?
The fact her Doc wasnt with her isnt in dispute. The doc was in Alaska awaiting arrival of the number one patient in the state, in the number one hospital east of Seattle, to give a normal birth to a healthy baby and child despite the DS.

It is amazing what modern medicine is capable of and how far women have come where a sitting Governor gives birth to a child while in office and has the drive to return to work on Monday with the little guy in tow.

I think it's obvious to anybody who isn't burdened with the pride of being Texan that it had little to do with which state she was in, and everything to do with wanting to give birth at home with all of its benefits.

Irresponsible? What about her duty to Alaskans and her family. The responsible thing was to have that child in comfortable surroundings with a doctor that knows her well. Geez where did you want her to fly to? Juarez?

When you're a month premature and going into labor with a problematic pregnancy....well location should hardly be the number 1 priority seeing as the health services in Texas would have been more than good enough for her.

Btw she has no duty to Alaskans to give birth in her home state, where the heck did you pull that out of?

And given the fact she was due a month early luxury and benefits of her home state were obviously the most important of issues at the time.

I spent a good deal of time in Texas. I lived there from 1982 (summers, at least) until 1983, then again from '85 to '88. My parents lived there until last year, so I have been a regular in Texas for some time.

Something I learned very quickly from my experiences in Texas is that there is a bit of a rift (mostly friendly, but sometimes heated) between Native Texans and transplants. One of the causes of that rift is the attitude of the Native Texans that some transplants give their state a bad name with some kind of feeling of entitlement to an obnoxious pride simply because one is a resident of Texas. I can understand that view of Native Texans.

Isnt Texas and health service an oxymoron?
Nah that is a joke, in most of Alaska hospital services are hundreds of miles and an airplane ride away. As I said earlier I am sure the facilities in Dallas are top notch. But she is Alaskan. Gotta be tougher than average.

I remember my cousin had to wait 3 days for the weather to clear before he could get a flight out to the hub village for an xray and cast. Hell there are plenty of examples of people being transported while in labor in a supercub.
She got to fly first class!

It was more to do with Bunz's post that i didn't respond to, where he said about Alaska having Texan oil workers who couldn't hack it.
