I hearby nominate Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as the coolest Governor in America!

She had been traveling with her husband in Texas for the Governors conference. It was widely known she was pregnant with her 5th child due on May 18th. While in Texas her labor began. She apparently hid the fact her water broke, continued with her 30minute speech(later in the day), and flew back to Anchorage and a quick drive to Wasilla where she gave birth to her
2nd son.
Trig Paxson VAN PALIN weighed 6lbs 2ozs. Yes it is a band reference.

It has been reported that when asked why she flew despite her condition. She said "I wouldnt be able to live down having a baby in Texas"

I hope McCain picks her for VP now after that comment, i'd like to see her stick her head back into the state to campaign.

She also has made a proposal to cut Alaska in half to make Texas the third largest state!

As for her saying she wouldnt turn it down, I am not sure how much cred that holds right now. There is a good chance when asked the question along with the others at the same time, she was in labor and trying to figure out a way to get the hell out of dodge ASAP. She has said before she wouldnt accept it.
RIght now is a critical time in Alaska for her, she has a new born son, She will not accept the nomination. Mark my words.

But in terms of ever campaigning in Texas. She is a maverick, and I dont think she gives much thought to what people in Texas think.

Is that the best you got about Alaska? That our votes dont matter? Try something new. Alaska pulls far more weight with our local votes for the congressional delegation than any other state. There is a reasonable chance that for the first time in decades Alaska's measely 3 electoral votes could go democrat.

It is not my place to question her decision to fly. It was her 5th child, so she is fairly well experienced in this I would say. She knows her body better than anyone else. This child was a month early and if she thought there was at all a risk she wouldnt have boarded the plane.

Even more so, that if the baby was a month premature she should have gone to a hospital or whatever arrangements she would preffer rather than continue with her speech, her behavior is shocking!

She is a real conservative. Alaska is rolling in the money right now from high oil prices. Yet despite high revenues she is tight with the money and has been heavy handed with the budget ax.
As for higher office, she has not been Gov. for years yet. Really just 1.5 years. She has quite a bit of time left as the Alaska executive. If anything look for her in 2016. I dont think she has Presidential aspirations at this point. The talk of her being VP comes from a single blog that has grown through media exposure.

Her water did not break while giving a speech. That happened earlier. She experiences long labors. She did go through her prior arrangements of getting back to Alaska and her doctor, and her family and everything worked out fine in that regard.
