Re: California decides to help itself to an interest free loan via its citizens

What we put up with in the state never ceases to amaze me. They're really tightening up our tax laws to squeeze blood from a stone. You ought to take a look at what's goning on the UC system over this. Thanks for bringing up the subject.

The government has a lot invested in their war against drugs. They aren't going to just "legalize" drugs and end up looking like hypocrites. Furthermore the government brings in epic amounts of revenue because of drugs. Drugs are crime and crime pays off handsomely for the government. Crime is its own industry, they wont legalize dope, never going to happen. This is one of those issues that prove the government isn't looking out for the peoples best interests. This country would be a lot safer if drugs were legalized because it would take the sales out of the hands of the gangbangers and criminals, but they aren't interested in that because the government makes more money off these criminals then they would via any sort of tax revenue from drugs. |

Re: California decides to help itself to an interest free loan via its citizens
This is the kind of theft we have always had to deal with when Republicans are in charge. Once we vote out the Republicans then things will finally change.

Re: California decides to help itself to an interest free loan via its citizens
I have to weigh in here too- we have a MAJOR RHINO as gov. ,we have a dem leg. and thankfully we have just enough republican legs. to keep the dems from having a 2/3's edge which would allow them to raise taxes every darn time they choose, which has been tried several times in the last 14 months especially of pain.

The (D) to (R) ratio is 49 to 29 in the Assembly with 1 independent and 1 vacancy, and 25 to 15 in the Senate. Even assuming Ahnold was inclined to veto something they passed (and he rarely is as far as I can tell), they have enough votes to override his veto if they can pick off one or two Republicans in the Senate. California's Democratic leadership have more than enough power to do whatever the hell they want, more or less. |

And as for the court, they aren't even involved. The composition of the SCOTSOC is irrelevant in this discussion. Christ. Republicans didn't stop the Democrats from doing something stupid, so of course it's all their fault. |
