Gov. Chris Christie Presents "The Choice" To NJ Legislature

This guy just seems to understand hd to run a government.

    00000000

Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ): As the Governor notes in the video, which uses clips from town halls and the Governor’s budget address, the Legislature has a choice: pass meaningful health and benefits reform and double direct property tax relief to New Jerseyans, OR bend to the special interests by protecting a program with out-of-control costs and deny property tax relief to New Jersey families. The choice is clear, it’s time for the Legislature to make a decision.

“Are vital U.S. interests more imperiled by what happens in Iraq where were have 50,000 troops, or Afghanistan where we have 100,000, or South Korea where we have 28,000 -- or by what is happening on our border with Mexico?...What does it profit America if we save Anbar and lose Arizona?”

    Christie is a bull...

Gotta love these republican/tea party across the country standing with the real working class while beating the snot bubbles out of their Marxist opposition.
I'm a political bisexual, I agree with both sides, I just object to the idea that government has to enforce both sides morals as social ethics and or law. - Mr. Nick

most conservatives/libertarians are liberal socially and economically, they just realize that government isn't the answer, charity is. - Mr. Nick

Some are saying that Christie is presidential material. I'm not so sure that he will have a political career as long as that would seem to require.

Putting your opposition into a corner like that is good leadership, in that you make them a party to the decision and forcing the decision, but it also seems to have the nasty side effect of creating many political enemies, regardless of how much it's needed. Well, at least IMHO.
If a man were behind four months on his mortgage and was talking to you about his plans to build an addition on his home you would think him daft and delusional. But in Washington, ignoring a current crisis to discuss grand dreams is called “boldness” and “vision.”

There isn't a President alive who didn't make enemies along the way. Plenty of UN Secretary Generals without enemies, but then it's hard to make enemies when you never make a stand.

Christie's leadership style is a lot more effective than Walker's. Walker just says, "This is what I'm going to do" and doesn't care who he pisses off. Christie portrays his policies as a choice. If Democrats choose, they can make the other choice, or they can even think of something different.

Much as many politicians' easy-going nature obscures a hard man underneath, Christie's boorishness hides a very effective and even accomodating guy. He's worked just fine with Democrats so far, which can't be said for Walker.

I didn't immediately realize that about Christie, but I think you are right in your comparison to Walker.

I agree with the notion of pulling everyone into the choice and making it. Further, from what I've seen of this press conferences, he describes the decision in pretty clear and unambiguous terms that everyone can understand, so he's not leaving the electorate behind either (important).

Good post. I learned something. Thanks.
