That just means that there is ample illicit urine to meet the demand.

So, did applicantions decrease or not?
“Are vital U.S. interests more imperiled by what happens in Iraq where were have 50,000 troops, or Afghanistan where we have 100,000, or South Korea where we have 28,000 -- or by what is happening on our border with Mexico?...What does it profit America if we save Anbar and lose Arizona?”

There is no indication there was a decrease in the number of applicants.

If the state used a $2 test, would you be OK with it? It's a simple question.

As long as the test lived up to medical standards who cares? This brings us to the subject of the $15 aspirin in the hospital. Is it really any different that the one you take at home that costs less than a dime? Of course not.

The OP was scoffing at the tests based upon the amount paid for the tests verses the welfare hand out. Bring the tests down to $2 and the whole OP goes out the window.

This is a pilot programs, Florida can get costs under control in time. This is a program I would like to see go national, and I am not going to let it go belly up because the OP thinks he can justify the costs - he failed. Any freeloaders we can get off the welfare roles is good for the government. Force these druggies to go to work, go to rehab, or starve. It is little to ask.

Here is a 91 minute link to the movie "Friday." No need to see it. It is just a bunch of out-of-work young people getting stoned all day, when down the street there is a health club hiring. They never apply even though their parents are demanding rent, college, or work. Friday the Movie (full movie) - YouTube

That's right. But I'm waiting for him to answer the question because my suspicion is that this entire thread has nothing to do with the "cost." I'm about 95% sure of that, in fact. I'm just waiting for him to call my bluff.

Or, more likely, it was an inadequate sample size and also people can stop using drugs for the test if it's administered at a known time.

The financials of Florida drug testing to qualify for welfare need review.

The financials on this thread have been thrown out by a number of people besides myself. I think you and I may agree about the OP, (a first). This sounds like an effort by someone who enjoys their "doobies" while picking up a welfare check. The effort at logic in the OP sounds like a "smokey" effort at propaganda.

I am a practical liberal Democrat, and I have no problem with providing a safety net for CITIZENS down on their luck. Stories about freeloaders, (I think we have all heard about the woman with 9 children on ADC driving a new Cadillac), are legendary regarding welfare.

I am naive enough to hope there is a professional Government employee reviewing every welfare case and is looking out for us taxpayers. Compliance with welfare policy is their whole reason for being employed. To each according to their qualifications, not their need. That is the capitalistic way we have chosen to require of welfare applicants - it is ridiculous - but that is the law.
