They multiply / change form as your post count goes up.

Seriously, they're just markers you earn based on the number of posts you have. I can't remember what the sequence of symbols is or what numbers you have to reach for them to change. They're really kind of pointless.

Depends on how many posts you have. Once you get "x" posts you switch to statues, then eagles, I think.
