Re: Closing threads

What old thread? I was talking about active threads with recent posts. Looks like you just want to nitpick and find something to put me down about. What's up with that?

I went to post in a thread about homophobia and it was closed. I was annoyed by that because I didn't see the reason it was closed and there was no explanation. I felt there should be an explanation when a thread is closed so I came to the suggestions forum and made this thread.

Why are you so against me speaking out about unfair practises?

Are you a mod ass kisser? Seriously partofme, you are dogging me lately, why is that?

I'm am not an ass kisser. If it was the first or even second time I might not care so much. It is pretty annoying. Dogging? Sorry but I'm not hip to your jive man.

You're not picking up what I'm laying down?

You're being weird partofme. You posted that you agree that closing threads without an explanation shouldn't be done, yet you are dogging me (it means continually getting on my case, dig?) about my thread complaining about this issue.

It's kinda weird.

Re: Closing threads

Actually Sam, I must admit that the bunch of threads I assume you're referring to are no loss to the Forum. Indeed, I personally complained about the content within one of them. None of the closed threads had a point, and instead they had simply become a forum for certain people to spew forth all kinds of bile. Don't worry though, I'm sure within a day or two someone will create something else that they can use to push their message of hate. Just have patience...

I actually don't know what thread's she's referring to specifically... but just in general... "cut and paste", "baiting" or whatever.

I guess I still don't understand why you have to start a thread about it before just asking them about it. Why the need to make a public statement every time you have a question for them rather than just asking.

Re: Closing threads

Well, when no mod takes credit for closing a particular thread, how is Sam supposed to know to which mod she should address the query?

She could simply go to Crystal since she is an administrator. They have politely asked that we do that.

Re: Closing threads

Crystal is not home at the moment but I see that the good Dr. has checked in.
Perhaps he could shed some light on the situation.

The point is moot ( to me )- Samantha has also left the building.
As shall I.

Yeah, I'm going to bed as well. Hopefully Sam takes the time to ask so we can get an answer rather than a debate. Later.

There are a couple of threads in the social issues section to which Sam is referring, and to be honest I support their closure. They had long since passed the point of any debate or reference, and the tone to which they had degenerated this morning was nothing short of disgusting, which featured members calling each other pedophiles, etc.

Re: Closing threads

Crystal informed me that she closed them due to their deterioration into fights and bickering that were so extensive that they were beyond repair.

I usually leave reasons why I close threads and so do others. She was heading out when she closed them and intended to finish discussing the matter when she got back.

Sam, We all have lives beyond the board to finish resolutions of every matter on the spot. Moreover you know to bring up matters with us rather than make a scene. Your comments such as it being laziness and smugness are not appreciated and I do believe they are made to bash us. This continuing anti-mod attitude and accusing other posters of picking on you is not going to be tolerated so please stop now to avoid making us stop it for all time. We don't want to take that step but this has to end. Please make the desired choice which we prefer and you and you alone control and can choose.

Re: Closing threads

I don't think it really happens that often that a thread is closed without giving a reason ... at least when it's not obvious why it is closed anyway. I agree that apart from obvious cases a reason should be given. But apart from that you can always ask a mod why a thread has been closed or deleted if you don't know why. You can also ask to reopen or undelete a thread if you think it was a wrong decision to close or delete it. It happens quite often that closed or deleted threads are opened again for posting after some clean up.

Hey, she has a perfectly good case for discussion. Malvolio's reasoned reply is a lot more constructive than threats.
( This is on-topic and within a thread to which you've contributed yourself, so I don't expect any reprimands for criticism )

The fact remains that other posters will continue to make the same 'errors' unless reasonable explanations for interference with member's posts are made, on the spot and in public.

If you don't like the way this site is run, you could:

*no longer visit it.
*post your opinions on one or more of the countless political sites available.
*start your own site and run it as you see fit.
* all of (or any combination of) the above

Please don't burden the membership with your constant complaining, it gets real old, real fast.
