Re: Certificate error

I deleted the thread for now. I'll need Matt or goodtrips to verify that it's safe and ok to reopen.

Thanks.

Re: Certificate error

BTW, I have identified the problem post. Perhaps we will be able to simply delete that post and reopen the thread. I would still like Matt or goodtrips to have a look.

Thanks.

Re: Certificate error

I also got one yesterday but it was in a new thread, though I can't remember the name of it. It was started by someone new, asking for opinions so he could read them on his radio show.

What was the problem? A virus? It was working OK last night.

Re: Certificate error

I suspect someone was putting an https:// link inside an image. That'd account for the certificate.

Whether any malware could be transmitted through something like that is questionable.

Sounds like it could be a problem.

What's the difference between a https:// and http://, Pramjockey?

Re: Certificate error

https is secure/encrypted, while http isn't. If you do online banking or shopping, you'll see that the url in the bar is https and depending on your browser you should see a lock at the bottom and the name of the server that it's secured to.

Part of the process involves the certificate and browsers should be smart enough to pick up on bad certificates and alert you.

Ahhh... Ok, never picked up on that. Cyber-challenged on this end! Don't do internet banking either- I don't have that much trust when it comes to my money! Waaay too many thieves out there!!!

Re: Certificate error

Certainly an understandable position to take, Gem. There's definitely a large group of people out there who will spare no time and expense to steal someone else's money.

Re: Certificate error

Sure is taking awhile to get the thread back up.

Re: Certificate error

The delay in getting the thread in question back up is, unfortunately, looking rather suspicious to me.
What seems to be the problem here? Was it, quoting Pramjockey,
Quote:
"suspect someone was putting an https:// link inside an image. That'd account for the certificate."
, or was the reason the thread was removed something else entirely?

Got your PM, came here to C&P to you for clarification but seeing your reply here tells me you already know what thread I was referring to!

Maybe Crystal will have an explanation, eh?

Re: Certificate error

Well, our admins and mods do this for free, so it's not like there's a deadline threatening their salary or anything!

Maybe they are still working on that certificate error thingy.

Crystal, did Matt or DrGoodTrips look at it yet?
