Can it get any worse ?

There's not a lot going on at the moment (apparently), some of us have no other hobbies to occupy our interests besides trolling forums and seeing how many people we can piss off and/or offend. So, being the bored and BORING, bitter people we ARE, we get online and entertain ourselves by evoking ire in others with offensive statements about almost ANYTHING. Generally things we know little or nothing ABOUT. The fact IS, we don't have to know terribly much about something to irritate others, just make arrogant, offensive and/or outrageous statements about a subject matter. Constructing these statements as cleverly positioned "questions" or "inquiries" works nicely. Manipulating others with language does wonders TOO.



My question centers on how, recently we've heard that moderators were going to be less tolerant of trolling garbage only written or created to irritate in order to maintain some degree of order, civility and quality here. Yet we still see a LOT of trolling garbage. Here are just a COUPLE examples. Sure, I could provide many more, but it seems that there really isn't that much INTEREST in maintaining quality, so I may just be wasting my time ANYWAYS. What THESE entire threads are about is pissing off as many religious people as possible:

Maybe the site should take a lesson or get some software from China so they can censor certain links and certain ideas and certain words. Maybe google could help USPOL as it helped China block sites from the Chinese people's access.

This isn't about censorship. You wouldn't understand that though. What is being censored are quality people and posters who might come here breifly, see the general tone and decide they have better things to do besides interact with people who's only purpose is to offend, irritate and anger. The general tone here IS that. Come here to blather at and insult anonymous people with no consequence. We can't do it in real life, but we can do it on the internet. It's trolling. It isn't "debate" or "dialogue". At BEST it's ranting diatribe. This doesn't draw quality people here to POST. No, it only draws OTHERS who enjoy blathering rants, insults and offensive trolling.

What's scaring some of you is the fact that YOU might have to actually try to carefully think through and create writings that actually address ISSUES rather than address your OPINION about someone ELSE or someone elses OPINION.

I've done my best to derail certain threads for a REASON every time. That my reason(s) for coming here have changed a little is true. That the way I choose to interact, has changed, is ALSO true. However, when there's nothing but a certain type around one must rise or lower oneself to accomodate the situation(s). That I know this site has WAY better potential than is being put to USE is also true.


There are plenty of "anything goes", say "whatever you want HOWEVER you want" sites out there for trolls. I just wish this one wasn't one of them. My only reason for staying around is the potential that I see and to continue pointing out how the general trolling that goes ON here hurts the site.

Okay, guys, that's enough. Threads that serve no purpose but to call others out is not productive for the site. We've told people repeatedly if someone is posting garbage then don't reply - ignore them! What I see time and time again is quality posters not posting quality stuff. They get sucked into feeding the trolls and then they will go complain about the quality of the site. Perhaps everyone needs to post in a style that they expect from others and be a bit more selective in the threads they decide to participate in.
