Why am I seeing google ads in the middle of threads?

The standard answer may be: Because they pay for it...

However, I have to tell you that I am fairly annoyed by having to scroll through (more than one per thread) ads of any kind when viewing a thread.

Especially because I am a paying member... (let me backtrack: Usually, in my experience, those who pay for a premium membership in a forum are usually not subjected to ads...perhaps more on the pop-up side, but still)

I have checked for spyware, etc...and I find none....but perhaps I am missing some google settings somewhere...If I find out that because I have a Gmail address.....

Have you logged out of google/gmail instead of just closing the window?

What browser are you using?

It would be weird for google to put ads in the web pages you look at as opposed to ads in web pages for everyone to see.

Seems like a strange advertising tactic.

I pay and have gmail, but I dont see any ads. I only see ads when I'm signed out and lurking.

(I am getting these, at least 2 per thread view, and they are dynamic: changing ads while the page is loaded.) It happens whether I am using IE or Firefox...I have deleted all possible cookies, checked for spyware, deleted all adware, and have contacted google...

It does not happen with other sites or forums I visit. Only this one.

If you are a paying member, you shouldn't be seeing ads.

One of the admins will probably see this thread and try and fix this problem for you. To expediate things, you may want to send a PM about the issue to Marc, O'Sullivan Bere or Crystal (or all of the above).

If it makes you feel any better, I'm not supposed to see ads, either, as a mod. But, I do, because I'm a man of the people.

i see ads. then again, the donation made was to some graduation for Mark. I dont know why it did that. I guess I messed up in Paypal. I dont mind the ads just as long as they dont follow me around.

No that's the correct paypal donation. It's reunion something or other.

I don't see ads when I'm a paying poster or when I'm not. So that's weird.

How many people see ads? Someone should make a poll.
