Re: Who sees ads in the middle of threads?

2 at minimum.

And it appears they refresh.

Whether I am at the university, at work, at home...they just started popping in recently. I renewed my subscription before the end-date, so they should never have started showing in the first place.

P.S. See Crystal's reply in my thread for the official explanation. Turns out I am not insane after all...well...at least not where this situation is concerned. I feel so vindicated. Now, if they can just fix it...

Re: Who sees ads in the middle of threads?

When I saw the ads, it was about the time of my renewal. The problem was that I had paid for membership for two other members here so it appeared that I have three memberships. When one of them expired, it turned out to mine and the ads appeared. After renewing, I think everything had to be reset by the admins to get rid of the ads. I'd suggest that everyone check their User CP occasionally unless there's a way to automatically notify us when our membership is about to expire.

I just PMed you about the ads. I wasn't sure if you still saw them or not.

If you use Firefox 1.5 or higher, download this handy add-on. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
Thats what I use, and you can just choose to block the ads and you wont see them again.

Nice one. 'Counter extortion', I like that.

I've been meaning to suggest that anybody reaching 'Vice-President' status gets automatic free Silver membership with a Gold for the Prez.

How about it ?

( a date with Crystal preferred, but hey, beggars can't be choosers )

I see google ads on every thread. It doesn't really bother me that much though. If it helps Marc pay for the site, hey, why not ...

If I see any 'Visit sunny Israel' ads I'll make a point of telling you why not.

Are you a paying member? If so, I'd understand your logic totally, but I don't think non paying members shoudl complain over such a minor issue, especially given it helps the admin pay for the site.

LOL!! Think of some of the famous posters on USPOL who have the president title. One right winger in particular comes to mind ...

Encouraging spam is not a great strategy.

The problem is that Moon seems to think that Marc owes him a site in whatever style that Moon prefers.

Well, I dont know if he's a paying member or not - IF he is, he'd be sorta justified in complaining (unless he paid with the knoweldge he'd be seeing ads regardless).

Otherwise though, no, Marc doesn't "owe" anyone anything as far as this one goes - it's perfectly reasonable to put google ads on a site to help pay for it. And its not like that they are THAT obtrusive.

More sycophantic tripe. I made a site suggestion, namely free membership for long-term supporters. Nowhere did I suggest a solely personal advantage and your attack is unwarranted.

Re: Who sees ads in the middle of threads?

I should have put in the poll, are you a paying poster who sees ads?

Maybe unpaid posters are supposed to see ads. But when I pay and when I don't pay, I haven't seen any ads. Some have said they see ads whether or not they pay. That's the weird part of it.
