Breaking News Section

Most boards i have posted on have a section just for breaking news

Since i posted the LV Bombing thread in War and Peace and the Clique has gotten their panties in a bunch over it

I make a suggestion that we get a section maybe in Off Topic for BREAKING NEWS ....things that are not really about politics, yet are a little deeper than OFF TOPIC

There's a forum for crime stories. A bomb in Las Vegas is a crime story.

but please consider it , a place where there is no political discourse just can talk about the news , as you can see by LV Bomb thread.....took 1 posts for it went into political bickering...........

Well ... in case of doubt you could just post it in the Off Topic section. Or if it's really a big story in the Breaking News section. I think we got a rather wide definition of politics there anyway. Though I really appreciate your concern not to post off topic. A lot of people just "dump" their threads in the Breaking News in Politics section.

I this case the Security Issues forum would probably be an another possibility. I really doubt that a subforum in the Off Topic area would attract a lot of attention. We are rather trying to get rid of subforums.

Well ... I guess the focus here is on "Breaking" and "News" . Of course it should should have to do something with politics in the widest sense. We also had a thread about the Virginia Tech shooting for example. The motivation for this announcement was that too many people just dumped their partisan bullshit posts in the breaking news section, about Bill Clinton, Nixon or whatever. If some event was four weeks or even several years ago, it usually is hardly breaking news. It has to be an important story that happened very recently.
