Re: My threads Removed

I deleted the threads because the only discussion taking place were insults directed at you. Instead of discussing the topic you introduced members derailed the threads by discussing their opinion of you. Members need to discuss the topic not other members. If I had only closed the threads then the insults would still be on the board for others to see and I don't want people to think insults are okay. I don't want insults to remain on the board so I deleted the threads.

Re: My threads Removed

One must wonder, though, if the volume and vapidity of the threads isn't in some way an insult to all of the rest of us.

Re: My threads Removed

I closed the thread because it had nothing to do with politics whatsoever. Rosie's career is of no concern in the 'culture and media issues' section.

In addition, the thread title was about getting rid of Rosie, and in the opening post you even mention she's leaving, so the thread made absolutely no sense. It's difficult to have a discussion about something that makes no sense.

I could've moved the thread to the off-topic section and this is action I normally would have taken had the thread been created by a poster who usually makes reasonable threads and posts them in reasonable places. This was not the case, so I thought that closing the thread would send a clearer message to the thread creator.

There have been times where I have closed a thread prematurely, where I had overlooked the intention of the thread and concluded there was no room for discussion when there actually was. I've reopened those threads and discussion has flourished. Because of this, I almost always put a disclaimer when I close a thread, basically saying "If you have a reason for this thread to remain open, PM me." I'm a pretty reasonable guy and any decent reason to keep a thread open will usually be okay with me. The creator did not do this, but instead went ahead and reposted the thread. That doesn't sit well with me or any of the other mods and admins.

I consider some of them a hostile attack upon my brain cells.
