WWII forum section

Can we get a forum section in info & research or a sub forum under military debriefing dedicated to WWII discussion?

Re: WWII forum section

This sounds like it might be interesting. How do you want to take this? Startegy? Policy? Tactics?

Re: WWII forum section

I like the idea. Maybe this thread should have been a poll.

Re: WWII forum section

I don't know. An own forum section would be too much, and subforums usually rather hide threads. That's why we got rid of most subforums around the forum. Both the "History Section" and the "Military Section" are not so big that an active thread would get lost so quickly.

Re: WWII forum section

One benefit I can see from a single WW2 forum is the seperation of topics. ie, posters discussing carrier aircraft in use during the war are not in the same thread as posters debating the pros and cons of the Pzkpfw IV.

I agree with him.

I would certainly be more than interested to follow and take part in some WWII threads, but I don't see the need for an entire subforum devoted to it. Soon people will be requesting subforums for the Korean War, Vietnam, WWI, the Cold War, etc.

Also, as he mentioned, subforums got almost no use at all so most of them were removed.

I'd stick with Historical Discourse.

Re: WWII forum section

I agree with him to be honest, dedicating an entire forum (or sub forum) to a war is going a bit far unless this was a specific war/military website.

Re: WWII forum section

I may be wrong but.....

At the rate WWII vets are departing this world the posts would soon relate only to hearsay and opinion (other than a display of verified historically accepted fact)

Sources for some forums do in fact exist but the "youngsters" have IMO little interest in the event (even the current conflict) !
