in Europe and North America countries.oversea Chinese found they can't visit some Chinese site's webpage.for example,in Europe countries,in North America, they can visit ҳ_ and other sites, but if they click the link to try to view the articles about U(Tibet),it would show them a page to tell them can't visit link.

how do westerner laugh at Chinese when the same happen in "democratic" western countries?
Man. I tried to check out what you're saying, but my browser apparently can't handle chinese characters... not that I could read them anyway.

Yes. I understand your meaning. Unfortunately, while I can visit the main page, I can't understand anything that is written there. In my browser I don't have it set for Chinese characters, so everything shows up as ????????? so I can't test what you are saying. That's all.

Re: USpoliticsonline from China

My guess would be because your government deems those issues to be rather sensitive and don't want it published in the international media; thus they are refusing to let that information be accessed by people in foreign countries. I believe it’s another example of Chinese censorship of the Internet.

Re: USpoliticsonline from China

Yeah, I have no idea what this page says ( ҳ_ ), but I can visit it just fine. I'd be really interested to see a link to a site that I can't visit because of censorship by the United States government. I suspect the censorship issues are in China.

Yes, I have choice, I am not in China for the politics, but for the culture, because I like to travel, and discover new things, although in a few weeks, I'll be back in France.

PS: I could access the first page, and then, with a refresh: timed out and the whole website was unavailable for a few minutes again, while accessing to google or baidu just worked fine...

I will really doubt it Winter... I don't see the point from a Western point of view, in the West, you can easily find the Chinese version of the story about Tibet. There is no one to dictate who can see what.

Even Tibet is a very important issue in China, Tibet is still after all totally irrelevant for many in the West.

Seems like the Olympics set some things in motion:

In a sign of possible loosening of internet controls, China a few days ago lifted a block on the BBC website that had been in place for years. However, Wikipedia remained outside the firewall apparently because of its many references to such sensitive issues as the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown, the Dalai Lama and Tibet.
