I did notice that your original post said "what I'm talking about". I caught it right before you edited.

You're only making posts as a suggestion, I'm only make posts as invited comments about the suggestion.

You may not abuse your position of moderator but the point was that the proposed rule change was subjective to an individual moderator and not clearly defined. Therefore, if an individual moderator reads something out of context, they may be off base leaving the poster at the mercy of that one individual moderator! hmmmm

Yes, I'm talking for the sake of argument! I did not suggest that you didn't know what you were talking about. I suggested that the moderator team would view the rule independently - that there would be no checks and balances and that only works in a dictatorship. Which is fine as long as you are all in agreement.

The more rules, the more difficult your job will be. Not vice versa.

The fact that you view this as a direct attack on you crushes me! My comments are for general public consumption and as the suggestion was from a forum member, the comments are also to that forum member and everyone else.

Well, my honest apologies, if I misinterpreted your intentions.

Accepted.

Go soak your head...in my pool. I'm headed out to scrub algae with a beer in one hand and a brush in the other. Then I will probably soak my own.

Re: Potential Rule Change

So are we STILL blabbing and yammering about this "potential rule change" ?

Shit, get off the pot, shut up ?

Oh, it's not hard at all. As strict as this forum is, I've seen much worse with moderators crazed with power.

Re: Potential Rule Change

This forum is strict?

You'd have hated the forum where I moderated.

I am used to forums with no moderators.

Re: Potential Rule Change

And?

This forum never claimed to be without moderation.

a) I said this is a strict forum compared to others I frequent.

b) I never said anything about this forum making any kind of 'claim' to the contrary.

c) I agree with your assertion that I'd hate any forum where dullards moderate.

No.

Now I just do "drive by posting."

Since no one wants to discuss anything and anything they DON'T want to discuss is conveniently called "spam."

Drive bys are the way to go
Listen, just because one trollop believes its all Noa's fault doesn't mean its all his idea or anything. The rule was implemented not just by him but by everyone, and how inconvenienced that one person gets by it is hardly important to anyone.

Oh I know. Thing is, is that most would rather complain more about;

1. The source being cited.

2. The PERSON citing the source.

3. The way the person has formatted the post.

Very little is commented on about what is actually said about the subject. By the source OR by the poster.

No.

What we have is people finding endless ways to dismiss what is said at any given source they don't agree with, OR making nasty personal commentary about the person posting.

So, as I said, unless one wants to participate in the bullshit I've pointed out (it gets old and tiresome), drive bys are the way to go.

I'm in no way interested in reading trolling attempts to piss me off (anymore). I'm no longer willing to argue with people who like to be creative in finding ways to dismiss or ignore evidence that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that they don't know what they're talking about.

I see TONS of that.

When I DO see posts worth responding to I will. As it currently stands, I see them so rarely I don't LOOK much FOR them. So, sure, I probably DO miss some good ones.

As long as childish trolling is the norm here though .....

.... connect the dots :-)
