Re: Slow days ? ... ?

I didn't mean for it to seem as if I was addressing the energy issues we have today. Though I can certainly see how it might seem I was. I was thinking more along the lines that we are resigned to the fact that we don't seem able to find any decent, honest people to fill any political offices. For more than one reason of course. The media along with the shallowness of most Americans has the most to do with it it seems. Of course I am resigned to all the things you mention and all the losses that go along with it also. Yes, I planned for it, but the dream, it appears will not materialize. People of character? Really. How? With the role models for our young people being 'gangstas, pimps & hos?' THAT's whats cool today. "People of character" are mocked and ridiculed. Today, 1 in 4 American adolescent girls has an STD. Hmmmmmmm........... Did they learn from people of character or from pimps and hos? |

![]() Lets give some credit. Pimps and hos aren't the only role models. FWIW - We could probably go back to the fifties and list people considered as role models that parents, etc. did NOT approve of. As for the STDs, they are rampant with more than just teenagers. No one talks about that because its "icky" and happens in the nether regions. So lets give them role models who say use condoms or abstain instead of people who don't give a shit or pretend like teenagers aren't screwing left, right and center. Just my opinion. What was my point..? Oh yeah! Captain Thane, the sky isn't falling today either my dear. And yes, its gotten a bit quiet around here but think of it as the quiet before the "storm". Who knows the bizarre and wild shit that will be posted in the coming months?

People of character today are not only "mocked and ridiculed," they're hated. An ever growing segment of Americans idolize what you call 'gangstas, pimps & hos' and any other disgusting group of deviants and dangerous lunatics. What's interesting, is that when this is pointed out there are those who quickly step in to mock the exposure of this trend with statements like "Oh noooo the sky is falling." As if it's not really happening. Or only silly people would take notice of it ![]() |

Do you have a pool table down there? Hold on! I'm coming with you! I intend to be shooting some 9-ball when the apocalypse begins.
Captain Trips...no one is making fun of anything, although you could just address those people instead of believing you are slick and posting around them, lol. Actually no don't, this is kinda funny. Seriously though, I was just outside and aside from the wicked heat, the sky is still up there.

I think what we need to do is create an enormous department of government called "The Department of How Things were in the 50's". It could go around reminding people that when it was younger, teachers were allowed to hit children on the hands with rulers and it doesn't recall anyone complaining, dad-gumnit! That and other reminders of how great things were, in the form of television advertising, billboards, and door-to-door campaigns could account for half of its 500 billion dollar budget (less the amount required to fund the hundreds of thousands of government employees). The rest could go to passing laws officially abolishing sex, censoring anything made by people under 40, and mandatory manners re-education camps where people learn which gosh-darned side of the plates dinner forks go on. I tell ya, we'd have a lot fewer problems. People would learn a thing or two about honor and respect, and we could stop the inevitable destruction of society by tasking the government with making sure nothing ever changes at all, in the slightest way. (Edit: Also, for authenticity's sake, it would go around infecting people with polio)

Monty Python or Chicken Little? I'll take Monty Python, so yes, it's better.

But, expanding the scope here, each thread that you create outside of your fascination with the subject of homosexuality involves generally unrelated, negative events with the vague assertion that society is headed for some sort of horrible end (though nothing seems yet to have happened, in spite of you forecasting the rapture for the last few years). Aside from vague assertions of vague doom, what is there to discuss? You never post: - A concrete objective assessment - A linked, larger trend - A suggestion for something, anything, that can possibly be done by those with the power to do so - A suggestion for what anyone can do in his or her individual life to stave off this vague doom So, in the end, it just comes off as tiresome bitching. You're nebulously disgusted with the world. Who gives a shit? Do you have any kind of actual point? Quote:
