Notification won't change after acceptance

I have a friend notification and while I've accepted it several times, it remains on the pending function as a notification . What should I do?

Are you sure you remembered to check the little box by their name? I've forgotten to do that before, and was getting really irritated!

You're getting subliminal notifications.

You can't see them.

But they're there...

Check the box by their names and then "Save Changes". That should get rid of the notification.

I think there is a glitch in the system. I have gotten a couple of friend requests from people who I KNOW are not my friends and wouldn't want to be. I check 'accept' and it says that my friend request has been sent. WTF?

Anyway, Everyone who shows as a friend on my stats page actually is. So it has to be some kind of glitch.
