Wow! Bush's legacy: Handing Iraq over to Iran. Wow!

Quote:
Violence flared across Baghdad today, as 60 bodies were reported found and at least 18 people died in attacks on the police, a day after Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki traveled to Iran to seek support in quelling the conflicts that threaten to fracture his country.

The American military today reported the deaths of two soldiers, one killed by a roadside bomb south of Baghdad late Tuesday, the other killed on Monday in combat in Anbar province in the country's west.

How much money did we spend in invading Iraq? How much money did we spend in 'positive' propaganda in Iraq? How many Americans died in Iraq?!

And for what?

For this:

Were we nothing fighting the influence of Iran bleeding into Iraq? Now what?

This is called the Bush Doctrine biting us back in the ass.

Since Iraq is a Shi'a majority, it is prudent politics to massage the crank of your neighbor who just happens to be a Shi'a dominated government. I believe that coulkd be called solidifying your position.

What? You mean US interference in international affairs might come back to bite? Gee, that'd be a first .

Did you know that every muslim, whether Shiite, Sunni, Druze, Salafi or whatever, dreams of the Haj, the pilgrimage to Mecca. In one part of the pilgrimage they pick up a stone, and carry it round and round this large pillar, that represents Satan, when they get close enough they throw the stone at the pillar, this is the ritual stoning of Satan.
On the side of the Pillar are the letters USA.

I think it's a very good idea that these two leaders met. For one, Milaki can tell the nut-case Iranian to stop sending suicide bombers into his country to kill & maime his countrymen.

Who knows, maybe the nut-case actually listened?

It's certainly hard to please you when you constantly bash the US for having agressive foriegn policies, yet when Iraq tries to improve relations with Iran we get bashed again!

Ahh what do I know.

And did Allah, himself put the letters USA on the stone? Nope, I kind of believe it was extremists.

Very good point. Dammed if we do, & dammed if we don't. Iraq & Iran have been bitter enemies for decades now. And we all know that Iran has a lot to do with the secular violence in Iraq.

So whats so bad about the new elected President shaking hands with an enemy to try & make peace? Maybe, this will help to stop the secular violence in Iraq?

Well in general I agree, it is good that relations between those two countries stabilize, it is good for the entire region and should thus be in the interest of us all.

Then again Iran is, well... kind of an ennemy of the US as well. So ask yourself the question what does it mean when the "brandnew" "democracy" (IMO it is already a failed state though) in the region gets closer to Iran? I could think of a couple of points there which might not be that positive to the US gvt.

Re: Wow! Bush's legacy: Handing Iraq over to Iran. Wow!

Apart from both countries having a large Shi'a population they both have suffered from US interferance in their internal political affairs. The US via the CIA was responsible in removing the only Iranian democratically elected Prime Minister in the 50s and installing the Shah and the US has illegally invaded Iraq and installed a govt of its choice
