Re: Gerneral Petraeus

He should be arrested and taken to trial for war crimes in Iraq.

What a hero. He had the courage to tell things like they are and make great changes. If you do see him, buy him a beer from me, too. (Then send me the bill in a PM. )

I have to say he did a bang up job in Iraq while walking a fine line. Working for the hard-nosed Bush admin and trying to appear like a truthful honest human being is almost impossible but he seems to have done it. I'd buy him a beer.

Re: Gerneral Petraeus

Bush abdicated all responsibility to Petraeus, remember ? All Petraeus had to do to make his tour 'successful' was to keep Americans out of the line of fire. His 'success' is due to his policy of planning for withdrawal. That policy appeals to all Iraqis.

A withdrawal has been being planned since the get go by military commanders. It was simply a matter of when they would be ordered to implement that withdrawal.

Petraeus was a welcome and refreshing addition to the foreign policy face of america. He strikes me as honest, intelligent, genuine, and straight forward.

Any success he had was limited and is at risk of unraveling - civil violence is currently trending upwards in Iraq.

But i don't think anyone could rescue this disaster.
