Condi Rice: Surrender Monkey?

Quote:
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Monday the road for the U.S. in Iraq has been "harder, longer, and more difficult than I personally imagined" and warned that despite some recent progress, success in Iraq is "not a sure thing."
Rice: Iraq 'harder' than she 'personally imagined' - CNN.com

Hmm. One more in the administration who finally understands what a mess Iraq continues to be. Or is she just a white flag-waving surrender monkey?

So hard to tell, these days.

Re: Condi Rice: Surrender Monkey?

Perhaps she's come to realise that the real war must be fought in Afghanistan. By attacking Pakistan. Maybe there's a lot of Washington confusion about States with start with 'I' or end in 'stan'. In fact, if my name was Stan I wouldn't want to live in Washington.

See that really does worry me moon. I didn't wanna get into the thread about Afghanistan being a failure but it is this yielding urge to just pummel more and more troops into there and then hit Pakistan too which worry me.

Re: Condi Rice: Surrender Monkey?

Well, why not get the Indians to attack them and then the US can sell arms to both sides ?
When they suggest it to Guantanamo George, they shouldn't forget to make clear which Indians they're talking about.

Re: Condi Rice: Surrender Monkey?

Well you'd think more would have been made of the civillian reactor deal with India and the nuclear energy co-operation Bill (Congress finally got off its ass about it after waiting 35 years) but of course there are more important things to disuss like Sarah Palin's boobs or something...

I do agree that Afghanistan is un-winable, i have been saying that we should have been out in maybe 2005 or so. We could still be doing this for 1000 years and we'd never get anywhere, we need to let them take care of themselves, which they're perfectly capable of doing. We had this thing sorted in 2004 or so but for whatever reason we decided to stay in.

Anyway, Rice has been an hypocrisy ho for so long that her words are lost in the wind.

Did you just call a Black woman a monkey? Expect people on the right to all of a sudden care about the p.c. bullshit they've decried for years and get in your face.

Wow! What a revelation! We've been in Iraq for a while, and it isn't easy.

You learn something new every day!

I guess American's wouldn't have been so caught off gaurd if so many Republicans weren't saying otherwise.

I think they've stopped saying that, oh, around 2006. Of course, if you'd been listening to the Democrats since about 2004, we've been losing for the past four years.

I get the feeling that after the elections November, Democrats will suddenly discover what a success Iraq has become! No, they're not politically motivated, nah...

I get the idea she was talking metaphorically as to the road “in getting here” as to her use of “has been”...so frankly I think you may have inadvertently mischaracterized her intent....I don't get continues to be at all...or "a big mess it continues to be"....and yes she added the safety valve “things could still go sideways”….

Re: Condi Rice: Surrender Monkey?

Maybe.

It sounded to me that she's finally admitting that nation building in Iraq is still not a guaranteed positive outcome, and that it was, and continues to be, far more difficult than anyone in that Administration admitted or anticipated.

Re: Condi Rice: Surrender Monkey?

Let's start putting the reality back in the spotlight;

Quote:
A suicide bomber has killed eleven people outside a court in the Iraqi city of Baquba.

Al Jazeera English - Middle East - Deadly attack on Iraqi courthouse
Quote:
McClatchy Washington Bureau | 10/05/2008 | 11 Iraqis killed in U.S. raid in Mosul

A US raid on a suspected guerrilla safe house left 11 members of a family dead on Sunday, including three women and three children. The US military insists that the dead men were members of "al-Qaeda" and that the house was full of arms, and that, indeed, some of the destruction was caused by a secondary explosion. Iraqis seem to be denying the US charges.
