There were 8 years between the first WTC attack while Clinton was in office, and 9/11 when Bush was in office. One could have argued that Clinton did something mysterious and magical to prevent attacks on america, but he didn't. And neither has Bush.

Well, that's where Al Qaida's true safe haven is.

They migrated from Afghanistan to Pakistan. IMO, we should be partnering with Pakistan to root them out and where that doesn't work, acting unilaterally. If diplomatic relations with Pakistan's government decline, (because of this or other events) only then should we reconsider.

The alternative is letting the boil of Al Qaida grow unchecked...

I don't see a problem attacking a nuclear armed nation with predator drone strikes as long as we are not attacking the guys that control the nukes. So far, the nukes are safely in the hands of their military.

If we lose the trust of their military government, then we should cease activity within Pakistan and figure out what we can do.
