The Patriot Act gave the Federal government broad new powers, that does not sound very conservative to me. Real conservatives like Ron Paul have consistently opposed it. Both parties overwhelmingly will support the Act when it benefits them or their guy is in power. Business as usual.

the "Patriot Act" is a Republican/ neoCon construct and idealism, Obama and the intel people would have no trouble getting a warrant for those targets they tell us they need to fight.

It it all highly illegal then, and now to permanently keep this law going.

One of the things I find ironic in charges like this is when you look at the list of states that claim it is a violation of civil rights. Those states that have passed resolutions against it are Texas, Alaska, Idaho, Colorado, Maine, California, Hawaii, Montana, and Vermont.

Most of these states have also joined the "10th Ammendment" movement as well.
