Historic activity of the west would offer no surprise to me that we at some point will, go to war with China and third world populations. Probably because of our frustrations that the march of time has whittled down that which we can exploit to our advantage coupled with neglect in recognizing and preparing for new circumstances as populations increased and. natural resources were depleated, the exploited themselves took note of their situation. Of course in our own lust for cheap labor and its uses to increase profit we ourselves dissipated our manufacturing base by moving it and the corresponding jobs off shore*. (This move may have delayed the showdown but concievably reduced our ability to purchase goods, reduced government income and allow us to maintain superior military forces.)

It has given those 'exploited' countries wealth which can be used against us.

Nor would we. As it stands, short of using nukes, China is incapable of defeating the United States if it comes to a shooting war. Their leadership is well aware of this and, thus, will not be starting a war in the foreseeable future.

I am not sure I believe they are incapable of defeating us in a shooting war. They have supplied enough troops to fight us in our conflicts in Asia to keep us from winning.

That was over 50 years ago and we still managed to cripple their army for decades. Please do keep up.

The Chinese military of today is far outclassed by the United States in terms of firepower, supply, training, and overall capability. They couldn't even seize Taiwan if they really wanted to. Their only advantage is numbers and we proved that numbers won't win you wars once already.

Ours and the Wests exploitations have put few dollars in the hands of bulk of the populations with the exception of China but even then what are their "markers" worth if we collapse.

Boone Pickens (Texas) was right in respect to Energy and Water ! We seem to be a day late and a dollar short !

I think you need to include India in that because with our outsourcing India is coming along. And will continue to.

I think we have more to whet their appetite than just dollars. We are still a country of many resources, and our people are part of that.

Between China and the ME they could shut off our oil.

There IMO is no way we could invade and win. Who ever wins (by virtue of atomic strikes) will be standing knee deep in burned out waste.

The West has been outfoxed and sold out IMO. We have wasted our troops !

This thread is about a possible war with China.

We wouldn't need to invade to win.

    Re: War with China?

War is never over debt, it's over resources.
China has no interest in a bankrupt America, it needs America as a market.
One thing they will be able to do as a creditor, is demand we reduce the ridiculous amounts we waste on a military that is of little or no value. They may insist that we limit our military to self defense, and the Chinese may take over the role of world policeman.

I doubt they'd do something that stupid either. For one, they don't have the power either economically or militarily to make demands like that and likely never will. In addition to this, you really think they would want to spend that kind of money to be the 'world policeman'? It is in their best interests for them not to do that.

China will probably go expansionist when they no longer have our debt and markets to play with.

Hardly, we'll do it (play international policeman) for China if they play their cards right.

I'm actually rather curious as to how you came to this conclusion. Care to enlighten me? I mean, nukes are out of the question, right? We are talking about a conventional war are we not?
