I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone tired to blame Israel for the attack.

indeed. the only reason they were able to do it last time was because they caught the South Koreans with their pants down. not the case this time.

I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't read something at townhall.com from yesterday that lack of action against NK by the US to Israeli concerns that the same inaction will lead to Iranian nuclear development. The article says that the US needs to look at NK and realize that Iran needs to be stopped asap, other wise Israel will have to do it.

It's another one of those "send Americans to die for us" articles, and it got me to thinking about the fact in the past Israel has created military havoc to try to draw the US into war, so why not now?

And it's rright up there in alignment with the policy papers that talk about Israeli concerns that if the US treats Iran the same way it treated NK, Israel will not be the only nuclear power in the ME.

The funny thing is that it was the US who got the Iranian reactors started, and it was the US under Clinton and Bush Jr who built the NK reactors. Almost as though they WANTED to use them one day as justification to attack.

I think you touch on some very good points. However, this isn't the 50's or the 60's. China, IMO, has more to loose by supporting N.Korea than letting them fall. Why? China likes money and N. Korea doesn't have a lot of that.
Good point. I must plead stupid in regards to China today as compared to the 50's and 60's. Blame the News for not giving us a good World News program, as they found becoming a political National Enquirer was much more profitable. We have new celebs today.

I hope you are correct on China, and them being different, with their new economy. China is a very old Nation, really ancient. Empires rose and fell yet China has been China for a long, long time. And that makes me fearful, but I don't lose sleep over it. I probably should. Blue Doggy

One problem with modern China, though, is that they seem to value stability over everything else. NK as-is is stable. NK collapsing isn't.

True enough. Still, as we know, North Korea is a very isolated nation which will limit any internal instability from spilling over its boarders.

That's an interesting take. I wonder how many hundreds of thousands of refugees China would face were war to get going again.

Tough to say. For some reason I doubt many would try and flee.

North Korea is an interesting case because, as far as nations go, it is pretty much set up to be a controlled 'explosion'. Both Russia and China keep their boarders with that country pretty damned tight.

Yeah, it truly is an unique situation.

I hope to (insert deity of choice) that we don't have to find out, though.

I bet we can sink at least a handful of NK subs before they even know they are being attacked.
Have the South nuked, kill 90 or a 100 million people, ruin one of the world's most prosperous countries.

Hell, maybe even destroy Japan or, if we're really lucky, pull China into it.

You guys are just DETERMINED to end the world aintcha. Ever since Russia pulled out of MAD in 1989, y'all just can't wait to try it again.

NK is the one that commits acts of war and then waves its dick at traffic expecting not to get popped in the mouth. Take it up with them.

Wait, wait, I know... you're channeling the ghost of Neville Chamberlain.
