I'm not worried about the privacy of politicians. I'm worried about information on the little things like where our nukes are, weaknesses in our nukes, where our military forces will be if a war over X starts, etc.

In regards to our military being stationed and data which reveals strategic information, I completely agree. In regards to our diplomacy and unlawful or questionable actions engaged by our diplomats and soldiers overseas and at home, there is no reasonable expectation of privacy to be had. All that is doing is shying away from responsibility.

DITTO. How did they get classified information. Is this one of those computer hackers that can break into classified government information?

At any rate it is WRONG--it can do untold damage to everyone in the world--and someone needs to be prosectuted over this. It has got to stop.

I agree. The inside people who accessed it and leaked it are the ones that should be prosecuted.
If a man were behind four months on his mortgage and was talking to you about his plans to build an addition on his home you would think him daft and delusional. But in Washington, ignoring a current crisis to discuss grand dreams is called “boldness” and “vision.”

    Re: Wikileaks...

The documents were downloaded and sent to Wikileaks by Pfc. Bradley Manning.

Bradley Manning - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

He is in a military prison.

Apparently the pentagon had made accessing classified documents easier in an effort to improve intelligence sharing in the post 9/11 permanent war world.

And, in all likelihood, Mr. Manning is going to be in a military prison for the next several decades.

I wonder how Mr. Assange sleeps at night, using the traffic from these postings to solicit financial donations.

This big global release of a wide variety of material puts Wikileaks in the category of the National Enquirer.
It is very easy to dismiss wikileaks like you attempt to. It comes across as very shallow and misinformed though.

Why the obsession with CEO's? Do you think the leaders of your progressive activist groups are less corrupt? The "evil Wall St." chant is stale and tiresome.
I don't have any activist groups so i don't know. I do however think that mega-corporations and nation states are run by sociopaths who are hyper-exploiting and destroying the life support systems of this world for the short term gain of a few.

Mr Assange and Mr Manning are both great heroes in my book. They should be celebrated.

Maybe you can visit Mr. Manning in prison. Or, perhaps for the right donation, you can meet Mr. Assange.

Why should our diplomatic interests be exempted from privacy and who gets to determine which diplomatic actions are "questionable"? Where do you sign up to be the sole arbiter of all that is right or wrong with America?

Your comment comes off like you believe that our State Department and our military leadership are corrupt. If that's the case then your responsibility is to vote out the people that are supposed to be keeping us free from corruption. You could even go so far as to rally up a whole bunch of supporters of your beliefs or even run for the position of "decider" yourself. You do not, however, get to pick which laws you will and will not obey....unless you are US Attorney General Holder.

After a few years in prison, I suspect Mr. Manning won't really care that anyone considers him a hero - he's going to pay a terrible price for his criminal disclosure of this information.

Yep. He made an amazing sacrifice. He should be given some sort of medal.
