    Re: Wikileaks...

The Truth was going to be out sooner or later. And I have a feeling more Wikileak style sites will be formed to avoid "shutting down" and the negative attention!

Now people have realised what makes America upset, release the truth and everyone starts paniking.

I just cant believe Steve & Co didnt blame Taliban, Al Qaeda, Islamic Terrorism for Wikileaks LOL.

I also love how the same people who used to give me and others here stick about Freedom of Speech/Freedom of Expression are now saying Freedom of Speech has rules and conditions, national security crap bla bla bla LOOOL Am loving this!

I cant believe some of you are suggesting killing the founder of Wikileaks. Come on! Lehman Brothers have done more damage to America than Wikileaks.... alot of you are now unemployed cos of them... are u unemployed cos of Wikileaks?... .I suggest you kill founders and top management and board of directors of Lehman Brothers... chase them wherever they are. LOL

CNN just wrote somethin about Wikileaks cables "AMERICA ON DAMAGE CONTROL" .... I cant access the site. Will the democratic country allow this guy to tell us the truth please?

Why would anyone blame those entities for Wikileaks? That would be stupid.

I like to place blame where it rightly belongs. In this case, it's with Manning and Assange...

Improving democracy not at all. Wikileaks is throwing a monkey wrench into a process that is problematic at best - diplomacy. It is the same kind of crap which was pulled with the climate emails. People say things in privacy they don't want other people to know and which are sometimes just people blowing off steam. When stuff like this is released without context it only feeds chaos and strife. Sorry, I don't buy into the "Assange is promoting truth" mentality. The only thing Assange is promoting is chaos and disruption to the squeaky wheels which make up international diplomacy. Of course, the fact that he is becoming famous and getting his fifteen minutes in the spotlight is just icing on the cake.

    But here are few highlights:

Western leaders give more weight to the views of arab dictators than they do to arab citizens.

Karzai runs an incredibly corrupt government in Afghanistan.

The US thinks Canadian TV is insidiously anti-american.

China is not universally opposed to a unified Korea controlled by the South.

There is suspicion of a deeply corrupt relationship between berlusconi and putin.

The US knew that Georgia was planning to attack South Ossetia long before it happened.

One effect of this release is also further isolation for Iran and NK.

That is just a sampling and there are still plenty more documents to come.

Then there are all the other leaks published by wikileaks going back 4 years.

Disruption and a bit of chaos? Sure. Meaningful change is often disruptive.

Top PUBLIC figures, elected (supposedly) by the PUBLIC to improve living standards of the PUBLIC are doing their job "in privacy" and "blowing off steam" and persue their own ends with the result that the PUBLIC gets taken into wars, conflicts and economic crisis, and you don't see anything wrong with that! Brilliant!

    Re: Wikileaks...

I've been watchin this guy talk on several interviews on Youtube... he is serious about exposing corruption and has some 15,000 classified documents still under processing to make sure publishing them wont harm individuals mentioned there. He says he wants to show people whats happening but not give out names of corrupted individuals involved in the corruption.

Anyway, am sure people out there wanna know the truth, one way or another. So if its not Assange, its going to be someone else. He has received so much attention in the past few months, alot of people wanna be in his shoes now to do what he did. Great way to drive traffic to your website though, ....publish the classified TRUTH LOL.

    Yes, that's a brilliant choice.

Maybe while we're at it we can just completely suspend the Constistution and just put a Bush in charge in some sort of hereditary rule setup.

He is and should be protected by the constitution. More specifically, it the 1st amendment. Freedom of the press is not and should not be violated. He's done a better job giving us news than ALL the news networks in the western hemisphere combined.

Your view on the subject gives a pass to espionage. Which is what he's doing, only in a more damaging way.

    Re: Wikileaks...

Wikileaks is a global organization with many members in science, journalism (or what's left of it), civil rights movements, basic democracy movements, etc. Julian Assange is but one of the spokespersons for it. Kinda ridiculous to focus on that man as it ignores the global movement behind Wikileaks.

The naiveté of the idealistic is always so amusing. I look back at myself and wonder how I could ever be so foolish.

Naiveté is to think change comes without disruption.
