"Like every other good thing in this world, leisure and culture have to be paid for. Fortunately, however, it is not the leisured and the cultured who have to pay." Aldous Huxley.

Perhaps not, but you can bet your ass they are real proud of who they are, and what they do,and did in this respect. And I have known a few SEALS, but of course not these SEALS. Being the special unit that they are, SEAL team 6, they don't advertise what they do, for obvious reasons.
And hell yes, Obama was great in making that decision against the advice of his advisors. He showed presidential courage, knowing full well he could have turned out like carter, with that failure in Iran. Most presidents who were running for office again would make sure folks did not forget the decision that he made to send in the military to take out our great and hated enemy. Especially since he has few achievements. This one is a great one, which he can take credit for.
I really believe that some cons, repubs are just worried this might hurt their own party's chances, and have made this spiking the ball into an issue that is a non issue. Just my two cents. You know, just human nature making an appearance, and politics. I think this fabrication is rather weak though. I actually get a few chuckles from it as i watch Fox. Entertaining.

I know that's your two cents. But unlike you, Obama spiking the ball, turned people off more so than turning them on. I've showed you video and there is commentary all over the place shouting out and on camera complaining about Obama's spiking the ball BS. He would have gained much more by leaving himself out and only praising the armed forces for a job well done. But no it's all about him, that turns people off. But of course you can't see that.

Fair enough. I know that has been some hoorah about the so called 'spiking the ball". Yet these things are drummed up, given incessant coverage, seemlingly to try to counteract any positive gain that Obama might garner from reminding one is his accomplishments. That is how I see this entire deal. Hence the nit picking over whether he should have claimed no role, on his part and giving full credit to the military and intel In the real world, this is some real petty stuff here, much ado about nothing. Trashy tabloid stuff IMO that depends upon sensationalizing even the mundane.

Why do ideologues always assume people are as irrational as they are?
Giving criticism when due is part of giving credit when due. Pres. Obama deserves kudos for his role in the success of the operation but he also deserves criticism in the areas he screwed up and this was one of them. Your insistence that we cannot work with Pakistan might carry a bit more weight if they weren't a vital ally who we have been working with. Pres. Obama's actions were a political victory for him but cost our intelligence community dearly. That relationship might have been salvaged had he listened to pretty much everyone else including who he choose as his Secretary of State.

Conan's is on ... he just got a tweet from Obama ... "Just wanted to remind you I killed Osama Bin Laden."

Pakistan needs to be an ally, a real deal ally, because they are vital if you want to continue a never ending war on terror. Pakistan is deeply fragmented, and contains a populace that are not pro american, by and large. Pakistan is an inconsistent, part time ally, that is playing on both sides for economic aid from american taxpayers. Pakistan is a haven for terrorists, enemies of america. We could not trust Pakistan NOT to tip off OSL, and that is the reason we did not include them, or even notify them when we invaded their sovereign nation.
Mushareff(sp) the prior president told one of our news reporters that either Chaney or Rumsfield threatened him with destroying Pakistan to get cooperation on something. Allies are not created by such means. Pakistan is no ally sir.
How did Obama cost our intelligence community? Is the Pakistani intelligence composed of village idiots? You don't think they would have known what you say Obama said, that cost our intelligence anyways?
I think what was costly was the general who planned this, missed the effects of the walls around the compound that sucked away lift for the copters, causing one to crash, leaving behind a stealth tail section and other remains that our ALLY allowed the communists chinese to examine. That was a blunder that I would have thought would have been well gone into, given they had a full scales replica of this compound that the SEALS trained in prior to going on the mission.
