It's ALMOST that time again: USPOL Awards (input needed)

Yep, it's almost that time again and I'm looking for ideas.

For those who don't know, this is a yearly event and a favorite among board members. Traditionally, a thread is started announcing the categories and nominations are sent via PM to the one organizing the event. This year, it will be me. Nominations are accepted for approximately two weeks. All nominees will be recognized in the thread, however only the top three will make it to the final vote. Polls are open for approximately two weeks. The winners get bragging rights for the next year

I'm open to any and all ideas you may have. I know we are going to add a new category this time around: "Rookie of the Year" (Thank you Michael for that idea). To be eligible for this new category nominees must have registered sometime during or after October 2005. Sound fair? I would like to add a category for threads (favorite thread, most memorable thread, thread worth reading, or something like that). I would also like to do something that recognizes the USPOL team, but I'm not sure what. I plan on announcing all the final categories and begin accepting nominations the second week in October. Remember, this is a positive event and let's keep it that way.

The categories are:

1.) Best Signature
2.) Best Avatar (Both this and signatures do change so you can vote for a past one)
3.) Poster who uses most analogies
4.) Poster who uses most links
5.) Most active Poster
6.) Funniest poster
7.) Poster who gets their point across with the fewest words
8.) Most diplomatic poster
9.) Most helpful/considerate poster
10.) Poster most likely to change your mind about something
11.) Most informative poster
12.) Most spiritual poster (not necessarily Religious)
13.) Most optimistic poster
14.) Poster everyone seems to like
15.) Poster you would most like to have a beer with
16.) Most rational Poster
17.) Poster that starts the most interesting threads
18.) Most Patriotic poster
19.) Poster most likely to be a computer macro
20.) US Politics Online Poster of the year (this is for the best all rounder, someone who epitomizes all that’s good about the forum)

I want to say a BIG thank you to all of our board members for your participation on the forum over the last year. The board continues to grow and is really a fun place to be. I can't wait to hear your ideas. I look forward to this event each year. I absolutely love it and think it's a blast!

There needs to be an award for a thread. Funniest thread, most interesting thread, something like that.

What do you think?

Damnt. I've been meaning to start reading posts before I type a reply. I just keep forgetting.

Re: It's ALMOST that time again: USPOL Awards (input needed)

Skinniest avatar? Best Parisian with around 6000 posts?

(yes, I don't have any serious idea)

oh wait...

What about the best writer? We should worry about the form just as much as about the content. Some people are able to put ideas in very few and clear words, while others put poetry in their messages. Alright, not poetry, but beautiful prose nevertheless. Both kinds should be nominated for this award. It would encourage people to put importance in being pleasant to read, which is obviously one of the most important things about a forum.

I know ! not being a native english speaker, and having all these bad writing habits, I'm not going to win that either .

How about "poster from europe who has taken the longest to show his face."

I dont care what you name the award as long as you give me one. I've never been awarded on a web forum before

Oh and I nominate myself for the ass-clown. (I thought thats my only chance for success)

Re: It's ALMOST that time again: USPOL Awards (input needed)

No category for "most arrogant and condescending bastard"?

Gosh, there goes my chance for winning something!

I will 'second' IIIX's suggestion of an award for quality prose as it seems to be in such short supply here.
