Using YouTube etc. as a source.

Using YouTube or any other video source is useful and for the most part a good source.
However - when quoting a statement made in the video, please put the time the statement was made in the video - along with your quote.
I think everyone agrees this will make it much easier for members to find th statement to make comment.

Thank You

Re: Using YouTube etc. as a source.

Good point. I hate to sit through a 12-minute video to check a quote someone posted, that I ordinarily wouldn't have much interest in, only to find it's at 11.50 in the clip.

Re: San Francisco IAM

There’s a great video I saw on San Francisco IAM on Proposition 8. It shows both sides of the issue and what it means for same sex couples in California.

I’d recommend checking it out: Proposition 8: A Ban on Same Sex Marriage | SanFranciscoIAM | Local Internet TV, News, Views, Rants, & Video Journalism

Yes. Especially when we are having a slow connection. It takes quite some time to load just a part of the video... so I think this is a good appraoch

Re: Using YouTube etc. as a source.

I respectfully disagree.

Here's why: context.

Yeah, so somebody said something at 11:50, but don't you wish to know what the context was? It seems that people would just use it sometimes to try to make some silly partisan point, like with that Harry Reid "smelly tourists" moment this past week. I was on a site, the person said, "just go to 2:11 in the video that's where he says it". That's all fine and good, but Harry Reid was talking about the new Capitol Visitors Centre, air-conditioned in the summertime, a new relaxing place for tourists to wait to get into the Capitol Building, since tourists used to have to wait in hot and sticky summertime lineups of up to 2 hours. He wasn't talking down to anyone, but simply making the observation that on their way into work in the morning, they always knew they were walking into a special place to work since they could "smell the people" waiting patiently in hoards to have a look-see.

But if you just go to "2:11" of the video, yup, Harry Reid is "talking down" to the people.

I feel bad for the dial-up folks, but on the other hand, doesn't a faster service exist for about the same rate as dial-up?

I disagree whole heartedly. Harry Reid is an unrepentant douchebag who absolutely must be voted out of office ASAP. He has a long history of making such gaffes and even "in context" Harry Reid's comments were bullshit and an example of elitism.
