With Brown in charge its not so socialist as thinks he's at least a little bit more "prudent" than the rest. Though the quicker ya'll lead your revolt and put Miliband in as PM the better, Brown is the biggest waste of space in recent political history in your land.

Hey, I'm Javier and I work at Real Brave Audio which is a recording studio in Fresh Meadows, New York. We're big fans of Barack Obama and we want to do our best to spread the word about our inspiring music video. We are not trying to sell anything or fill this forum with spam. We're simply trying to expose this video and let people know why Barack Obama is the best candidate for the President of the United States. This song was inspired by speeches from Barack Obama so we hope you enjoy it. YouTube - Barack Obama campaign song YES WE CAN (rock) Let us know what you think.
Thank you ,

Hello from Asher Heimermann

My name is Asher Heimermann from Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I am 14 years of age and this is my fouth year involved in politics and government. I have submitted countless letters to political and government leaders as well as international leaders. I've been volunteering for Senator Barack Obama since June, 2007. About three weeks ago, I reached my fundraising goal of $3,000 for Senator Obama.

I have decided to get involved for multiple reasons, the primary reason being today a lot political views of the youth are not heard and I feel it is an important to make a difference. I invite you to visit my official website at Welcome | The Official Website of Asher Heimermann to learn more about me and my involvement in politics and government.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello political junkies! I am a 38-year-old small business owner from Superior, Wisconsin. I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, but the liberal brainwashing did not take.

I have never been married and have no children. I am sick and tired of government picking my pockets for googols of programs for the children and single parents. Why should I pay for their bad choices? These views ended my last relationship with a single mother of three. She was attending college and did not work. Come tax time, she received a ‘tax return’ big enough to take her children on a trip to Disney Land. I asked her if it made her feel guilty that people like myself, who had made better choices in life, were paying not only her family expenses and college tuition, but are now sending her family on a vacation to Disney Land. Honesty is only the best policy in relationships if you don’t mind remaining single the rest of your life!

I am a conservative orphan, waiting for a party to adopt me. More of a Goldwater conservative than a Reagan conservative I believe, though Ron will always be a hero to me. A rarity, I have no strong opinion on the abortion issue, and am tired of this single issue deciding party affiliation for so many people in this country. I do not understand the paranoia over Roe V Wade on either side. Why is there such fear if it becoming a states issue? Why is there such desire to make it one? Abortion rights in some format will always succeed.

The issues I do care about are taxes, global warming, national security, and illegal immigration. I don’t believe in taxing dead people, or using income taxes as a socialistic redistribution of income. Get the government out of the energy business. When the government funds and mandates ‘clean’ technologies that are neither clean nor financially viable replacements for fossil fuels, it does nothing but bankrupt the American taxpayer. Foreign policy decisions are like trying to thread a moving needle, and we consistently miss the hole. This does not make the USA evil, only incompetent. Let’s stop supporting people who do not respect our laws. Differentiating legal and illegal immigration is as critical as separating child adoption from child abduction.

There are some basics. I look forward to some respectful, yet cleverly blunt discussion.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

After not showing up for a long time I just wanted to reintroduce myself. I am twenty-nine years old, i am a double german/luxembourgish citizen, live in one of the most "european" and international cities on the european mainland ( Luxembourg), i work in the press office of the city of Luxembourg and as a Teacher at a university right across the border in Germany ( in Trier, in the beautiful valley of the Moselle). Right now i am in Munich /Bavaria for a book research project and have obviously free time enough to visit this site again.
Looking forward to many discussions

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hi All, I'm (obviously) from the great state of California. 26, currently living in England and running my own business. I'll do that for another few years before I sell up and come home - looking forward to that although England is a cool country.

I'm generally interested in politics and am an Independent. Used to be a democrat - but dumped them because they're just too damned liberal now! I'm voting for McCain - not because I like McCain but because I prefer that to voting for a latte liberal weakwilled empty suit that is the Chosen One. The more I know of Obama, the less I like him. In England, they talk about him like he's the Second Coming - so they're in for a major disappointment in the unlikely event that he actually wins the election. Probably would have voted HRC though.

Yep...that's a constant battle around here. People championing stuff like legalizing drugs but also being in favor giving those people free health care and various social programs. Government money is free, after all, right?

Ouch. I managed to not get laid for a week or so by a lefty college girlfriend simply because I suggested that she not cut the six-pack-plastic-rings before throwing them out. She said it was "for the pelicans" and whatnot. I told her to leave 'em be...only the "dumb" pelicans would partake in 'em and die...resulting, over time, in a superior breed of pelicans who'd eventually go on to rule the world. I, for one, would welcome our new pelican overlords.

Yes, the naivety people have when it comes to things like government money, insurance company money, and corporate money is absolutely astounding.

My biggest problem with the Roe v Wade ruling is that it discerned things in the Constitution that simple were (are) not there. Everything stemming from that is bullshit.

Putting it to the states and getting the fed out of the business of regulating and funding it would be a step in the right direction.

All of the states, in turn, individually banning it would be a victory. But I guess that is where we differ.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Well, I guess it might be a bit late for a warm welcome cause really you either love me or hate me at this point.

Anyways, I'm a 17 kid from Boston Massachusetts going into the 11th grade. I've only become politically active for this election round, but I hope I can stick around long enough to know a bit more than I did a few weeks ago.

A few notable things about myself: I enjoy programming, robotics, building, writing, designing, and of course politics. I also can't spell and I have a horrible memory for names.

Welcome AJG!

And, you're right - you can't spell worth a lick, but you're OK in my book. There are some great people who suck at spelling - Churchill comes to mind.

Not yet. You're not extreme enough for that.

Welcome. Although you have more than 800 posts, I suppose you are a newbie as I see you just arrived this month.

That explains why I have not seen any new threads by you. You haven't been here long enough. Although at the rate you're going, you will soon out-post the veterans.
