Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello everyone. I'm a 25 yr old US Army soldier. I did a Google search for a forum site where I can learn and discuss political views/topics. I don't claim to be republican, democrat or any other political affiliation. I have alot of personal views and I'm very open minded. I'm very happy to have found this site and hopefully the more politically educated members can teach me something and we can share ideas. Thanks

Hi, Kayley. If I actually wanted to see any advertisements, I wouldn't fork out any money to get that privilege to have them hidden from me at this site. Welcome.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello, I am a 22 year old college student working part time on the stock crew at a grocery store specializing in perishable goods. I found this site by chance when I was randomly googling things because I was bored. Politically I do not consider myself a "conservative" or a "liberal" and find these terms in many cases to be arbitrary and oversimplistic. My political philosophy can best be summed up by the Consistent Life Ethic, as a follower of this ethic I believe that all human life from the womb to the tomb has an inherant dignity that must be respected and protected.

In other words like most people who consider themselves pro life I am strongly opposed to what have traditionally been called pro life issues such as abortion and euthanasia, but unlike far too many who consider themselves pro life I am also opposed to the death penalty, violations of human rights such as torture, unnecessary wars such as Iraq, and economic policies which reward the rich at the expense of the poor such as tax cuts for the rich, or the recent $700 billion bailout of the fatcats on wallstreet. These issues are all one in the same because they all deal with the fundamental dignity of the human person, they are all part of a seamless garment which is inseperable.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

i think to learn you must hear all points of view and consider them. hence why i searched for a site like this. i had considered starting a site like this, but this one is rather good and seems quite diverse. i am a student of thought, so please do not hesitate to counter an argument i've made. it will only serve to make me more aware of things, and that will always be appreciated. see you in the forums folks.

Were you around when Jesus Christ had his moment of doubt and pain? Did you make damn sure that Pilate washed his hands and sealed his fate?

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello. I'm a 53 year old male living in Indiana. Born in Iowa, grew up in/lived in central NJ from the 60's into the late 90s. I'm with my second wife with an adult(Sometimes) stepdaughter and "step"-granddaughter.

I consider myself to be fiscally conservative but fairly liberal in my social views. I generally vote democrat for president but am registered as an independent and have voted republican in different elections(State, local) in the past.

Did you ride a tank and hold a General's rank when blitzkrieg raged and the bodies stank?

I was ordered to but I told them, "I'll never be your beast of burden, my back is broad but it's a hurting". They weren't very happy with my answer but I just said "Oh well, you can't always get what you want."

Thank you. I don't know about fever in the funkhouse, but there was a time I could have brought a little psychedelic shack, maybe torn the roof off the sucker.
