Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I am a 65 year old conservative in the tradition of Goldwater and Reagan. I have little use for the modernistic Republican party of Bush which has no moral philosophy or even an inkling of what conservatism is all about. I likewise have no use for the BS Osama Democratic party, whose sole purpose is to play Robin Hood. In their case it means stealing from the producers to give to the takers.

Hey, kids. My name is Snerd Williams. That's German for "fake name and not really German at all".

I'm a political science major that cares nothing for political science but wants all the money that comes with a law degree.

I'm a Libertarian which means my vote is worthless, so I view politics from the outside looking in.

I joined because a friend of mine posts here; we get into heated political discussions, so this it's natural that we should post here.

I look forward to arguing with all of you.

Nanoo, nanoo. Sorry, but someone had to make some kind of "Mork and Mindy" reference. It was almost inevitable.

Although I'm new here myself, welcome.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello. I'm Ken. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool liberal Democrat, and voted for Obama. I got my bachelors in criminal justice and my minor in women's studies. I wanted to be a cop when I grew up, but was permanently disabled by a dog attack when I was 10. So I work on the sidelines helping cops do their jobs, and it makes me happy.

I don't like communists or libertarians, and see them as opposite sides of the same coin, both worshiping false idols. I find conservatives somewhat laughable, endlessly frustrating, and think the lot of them are lying, self-deluding dolts with no actual philosophy beyond hating whatever liberals like. I tend to think conservatives should be kept out of power mostly because they think government doesn't work and is broken, and attempt to prove it anytime they are given power. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So unless you're a really bright, articulate and honest conservative (which is like saying "so unless you're a unicorn..") you'll probably end up on my ignore list pretty quickly. Because I really have no time for the kind of intellect that spouts absurdities like "Obama-Laden" or habitually compares Democrats with Soviets, or defends every awful and horrible thing conservatives say and do with "But someone vaguely related to the Democrats did something vaguely similar." You know the sort of typical idiocy of the typical conservative. If you're that moron, I don't care about your opinions, because they are stupid and you are ignornat.

Feel free to ignore me in advance. That was sort of the point of the last paragraph, to get the neanderthals to screen me out in advance.

Welcome, I guess. A suggestion: If you come here with such a closed mind, I'll doubt your experience will be enjoyable.

I'm not close-minded. I'm just old enough to not expect a sudden reversal from the last twenty years of conservatives being thick-headed, ignorant, hateful and close-minded.

I wasn't born disliking conservatives, it took many many years of trying to understand what the heck was motivating them til I realized that what motivates most of them is fear, superstition, ignorance and intolerance. And that for the most part conservatives come in only two forms: the clever and disingenuous manipulators of the truth who define evil, and superstitious cranks and weirdos who define stupid.

I'm always open to talking to a conservative with an open-mind, but the only two I've met in my life both renounced conservatism and became liberals shortly after meeting me. Apparently I'm persuasive. Most conservatives just end up hating me and wanting to see me tarred and feathered though. It's a function of fearing change and hating things that make one doubt one's beliefs.

I didn't realize that our political spectrum in this country was liberal and conservative. I am not a conservative.... and I am sure as hell not a liberal.

Well, anywooo.... welcome.... I hope you will listen and be as open minded towards others as you expect them to be for you.

(and don't get irritable with me because I might not see you as being as persuasive as others may. That does not make me thick-headed, ignorant, hateful nor close-minded any more than it makes you thick-headed, ignorant, hateful and close-minded when you don't agree with me.)

When I came to these forums I thought conservatives were really stupid to. Since then I did a full 360 and now I believe conservatives are stupid, but now I think liberals are also really stupid. That includes you...

Nah, I'm JK! Welcome to the forums!

Howdy y'all! I'm a political science major (just starting) Not completely happy with Reps or Dems. Like Libertarians, dogs, and wine. I tend to cling to my guns. Does this count toward the prerequisite 30 posts before you can start a new thread?
