Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello everyone
My name is David, I have 20 years, I am a college student and I like talking about politics, but always on a historical view.
I have a clear political tendency, quite critical of the reality in which we live, but I am not COMUNISTA.
I enjoy reading history books, watching TV, walking, rucksack and go to parties.

One question
How do I upload pictures?

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Greetings all my names Dave and i currently live in new york. Having been born and lived in the UK for most of my life my political philosophy is a mix of liberalism/conservatism and socialism. I dont believe that there is a simple answer to most political questions. Each question must be weighed up and looked into on an individual basis, after hearing all the sides of the argument, once that has been done you must make the best ethical and moral decision that harms the least ammount of people, i know this is very consequentalist but we must strive to be fair to all and unfortunately sometimes minority opinions must be sidelined for the greater good of humanity.

I look forward to posting and participating on the boards

dave

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Howdy folks -- if I had to describe myself, I would say I must be a moderate because other people have called me anything from neocon to communist.

Somewhere in the back of my head there's this little voice that keeps saying "that says more about them than it does you", but I ignore it, as it's such a whiny little wanker.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hi everyone,

I work in a scientific research lab, 42 yrs old, married with 2 kids.

I've never voted by party, and in fact only voted for 2 presidential candidates who were from one of the main parties. I voted for Ron Paul although Obama would have been my choice of the main contenders. I would love to see Russ Feingold run for president under the democratic ticket some day as he is one of the few dems I could actually bring myself to vote for. (Although an unmarried Jewish president is about as likely to happen as a black president). !!

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello all,

I want to first off apologize for a slight deception I had played upon all of you. I am not a 59 year old business owner old hippie rabid anti-capitalist from Appalachia. That is a character I created to do some research for a paper I am writing in one of my college classes. I want to thank all of you in your honest responses toward the personality I developed. None of you will be directly referenced in the paper nor will the website itself only in background data as this is not the only website I have used for research purposes nor the only character.

By taking such a rabidly oppositional position to the apparently prevalent one, yet still using similar methodology from the right wing opposites such as metalted I wanted to see what the reaction would be. As of this 6 people made realtively negative comments in public. 1 made strongly condeming comments in public as well as in a private message, 2 made strongly positive comments in a private message, and none made any really positive comments of any sort in public.

That is rather interesting and comforting to see. Although I will admit that I still do not see as much negativity directed at those who advocate right wing projects so strongly. It does definately appear that republican and right wing/pro-capitalism ideas are greeted warmly while anythign oppositional to that is not. Very fascinating.

I am in actuality a 36 year old farmer/mechanic/oddjobber/college student with a family that is just trying to get by the best he can. And while my personal attitudes and beliefs do lean quite a bit left they do not lean quite as far as I had been portraying them. As the research portion of my paper is compleated I will be continuing to participate sporadically in discussions as my true personal beliefs. Which should be somewhat different but similar in many ways.

Thank you for you assistence, consideration and the interesting data I have acquired.

I'm glad that my intuition was correct...it is very unusual for a successful 59-year-old American to call for the mass-murder of anybody.

Now the question is, will you stick around, with more honest opinions? If you do, you might want to change your name...as of right now, your name is associated with mud. Not good for discussion.
