Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

My name is Kahlilah. Suffice it to say that I'm interested in politics, and hope to find this a good community for structured debate and sharing ideas, more than eye-gouging and name-calling.
I don't want to go into too much detail about myself just yet. I'd rather people form opinions of me by my behavior than my age, gender, and pastimes.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello, I'm 36 and am Married to a great guy who's a computer programmer and project lead. I have two sons who are on the autistic spectrum. I am diagnosed bipolar and adhd as well. I am an atheist and my husband is an agnostic. We are raising our children in the secular humanist way. I am politically very liberal with my only redeeming conservative value is the 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms. I live in north-eastern Kansas near Kansas city. I'm a registered democrat. Would most likely be a registered socialist if I could be.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hi everyone!

I'm wndrtch, and I just joined this forum.

I clasify myself as a "Don't Tread on Me" Yankee conservative (an endangered species up here in Ma). My fundamental belief is that Governments are only good at one thing: breaking stuff!

I believe in peace through strength, and not in pacifying dictators, despots, and lunatics.

I also believe the main reason we invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, had much to do with containing Iran and boxing Her in from both Her boarders. It provided "teeth" as back-up for our diplomatic efforts with them. If we significantly draw-down in either country before we deal with Iran, then we lose our one bargining chip and they will end up with nukes.

I believe that there is no evidence that Global Warming is detrimental to the Earth. At times, the Earth had CO2 concentrations above 7,000ppm (compared to today's meager 380ppm), and the Earth's temps never rose above 22degC.

I believe that abortion should only be allowed in cases where a mother's life in in danger from the pregnancy. Our Constitution protects our Right to use deadly force to protect our existance, which allows for a pregnant woman to terminate her pregnancy if it endangers her life. But with that said, I also believe that your existance as a humanbeings started at the begining, not part way through your development when you were able to draw your first breath. Im am the same individual lifeform now as I was ten minutes ago, ten days ago, ten years ago, as a teenager, as a toddler, as an infant, and as a fetus. Is a butterfly a different existance simply because it looks different at different stages of development?

Well, those are some of my opinions.

Have at me!

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Come to think of it, I should introduce myself, I've been too busy talking about everything else to do it. I'm turnitup5000db, but that's pretty unwieldy so if you prefer, turnitup works too. I'm a libertarian social moderate and a fiscal hawk, basically your standard Ron Paul voter (We soooo got shafted by the Repubs this last cycle, but they don't seem to want to win as badly as they want to maintain the status quo). Anyway, I'm always up for a good debate, let the games begin!

Good to hear from you, turnitup5000, I hope you join in some of the debates here at USPOL.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Ben Grimm here. Rock-solid conservative ever since I quit the Teen-Age Republicans and joined the Young Americans for Freedom back in 1973. Good times.

I ride a '64 FLH 1200, I'm a huge fan of the New York Giants, Yankees, and Knicks, and an unabashed Star Trek geek (Star Trek: DS9 was the best sci-fi series ever done on television...ever). Love the Klingons, own my own bat'leth.

I came to this forum to discuss politics (naturally), as well as other things. With that in mind, allow me to quote Alexander Hamilton, writing as 'Publius' in Federalist #1, "My arguments will be open to all and may be judged of by all. They shall at least be offered in a spirit which does not disgrace the cause of truth."

Pleasure to be here. Look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi, I'm Leigh, a refugee from a similar board (and no, I wasn't kicked off LOL). I'm going to mostly lurk for a while to get a feel for the board.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Howdy.

I'm new to this forum, but an "old hand" at political discussion forums. Was a mod at another site, but left there recently for ethical/moral reasons. Had to give up a lot of good friends that day.

I'm a native Texan, in exile in TN. Graduate of Texas A&M University...a loooong time ago. Registered Architect.
