Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I'm 20 years into death. I have no kids because I like living life without chains. America isn't the same from what I remember it being. It certainly doesn't feel the same. Basically I like this forum as soon as I seen the Marijuana post. Its all about baby steps. Once the American population finally gets its head around the facts of substance use. Then we can maybe look forward into finding the great answers to the old questions.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello! I am a refugee from another site that did away with it's news room. The leftists in charge didn't like the truth being told so they decided to shut it down claiming it was too hard to moderate.

So it looks like you guys are going to be stuck with me.

Now we need to get Obama and the democrats out of office and send our nation back on the path to prosperity and democracy.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello All,

My name is August and I am 21 years old. I've mostly been a construction worker due to being a high school drop out. I'm trying to arrange my life to fit school in that I might enjoy a retirement or at least be physically mobile by the age of 50. I've really only taken an interest in politics over the course of the last couple of weeks. While I've had my nose in every piece of Poly Sci material I can get my hands on, absorbing information like a sponge, there is much I don't know. Because of this I couldn't really tell you what party I belong to. I suppose as of now I would call myself an independent. I believe with everything I am that the Constitution was constructed by legendary men who while possessing flaws just like the rest of humanity, put together a series of documents capable of capturing the human essence of hope, equality, and absolute freedom. Thus, I believe the Constitution gives every American citizen inalienable rights that were meant to stand no matter the political, economical, or social state of our country. Really, that's all I have to say about myself. I hope by joining this forum that I will find a new education in politics and broaden those intellectual horizons that I so vivaciously pursue. Thanks to all of you who in the process will contribute to this!

August

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

So you know where I stand in the time we'll spend together I will outline my basic political views:

I'm a registered Democrat.

I want greater efforts toward full-blown Universal Healthcare.

I don't hate France.

I think the death penalty should be expanded to include pedophiles.

I support a woman's right to choose but am not "pro-abortion."

I believe that Marijuana should be legalized, taxed and regulated.

I think that a clear divide between church and state is critical to preserving the integrity of both.

I helped get Barack Obama elected.

I fail to see what Tea Party politics have to do with the teachings of Jesus.

I believe that schools should teach safe sex and evolution.

I support the Fair Tax.

I think that if you don't believe in gay marriage or abortion, then you shouldn't have one, but have no right to tell others how to live their lives.

I think that Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh are turning Christians away from their own values and the fiery rhetoric of them and their Heritage foundation masters and lackeys will be the cause of the next attack on our country by its own citizens.

I believe in the promise of America, and will support or rail against my leadership based on what I believe, not what the television or radio tells me I believe.

I believe that this years attack on the IRS building was an act of terrorism.

I want to see the Republicans come back to being a cunning and worthy adversary rather than pandering to Budweiser Patriots.

I hope that our nation can one day return to offering the promise that was offered to my parents and grandparents.

Hopefully this will give you some insight into who is speaking with you in the days, months and years ahead. I look forward to learning from your wisdom and laughing at your ignorance. I am joining this group to learn from my fellow man and to share some insight into my life experiences with a new community.

You should. I've hated France for fifteen years and don't intend to stop any time soon.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Howdy. Before you ask the 9aces refers to the fact I've played a lot of golf and been a bit lucky.

The classic liberals and I will get along I think. Libertarians to some extent. Conservatives occasionally.

Liberals as today understand them will hate me with a passion as every liberal I've ever met does. But that's not surprising really, they hate everything including themselves.

We'll get the biggies out of the way first.

Abortion - Death of a child. When someone can explain how they at 20 weeks in their mother's womb are different than the child they're proposing to kill in that 20 week pregnant woman's womb then perhaps that will change. Call it choice, call it whatever you will, but understand what it is that is really going to happen. If you can live with a child's murder, then that's between you and your god.

Does God exist? - I think so, of course my interpretation of the nature of the Gods is probably not going to be the same as yours. I figure I'll have plenty of time to argue that with them when the time comes. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong and I'll deal with the consequences. If they don't exist the only time I'm wasting is mine so trying to tell me how wrong I am when you don't have a clue either isn't going to be a productive use of your time.

The role of government - The Constitution was a pretty good idea, didn't get it all right, but did a better job IMO than anyone before them. Its still pretty good, but government today isn't about the Constitution or what could possibly be best for the American people. Its become about power and corruption, and the sooner it collapses so we can rebuild it the better off we'll all be.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello all,

My name is Todd, I'm a 32 yo male living in San Diego CA. I'm engaged to be married for the second time. I have no children.

I spent 10yrs, 10 mo., and 26 days active duty in the US Navy as an airframes mechanic on H-60 helicopters. I'm now a civilian contractor flying UAV's (unmanned aerial vehicle) in support of our customers. I'm currently in the middle of a 6 month stint in Afghanistan. This is my second time here.

I come from a conservative background. My father is a retired Air Force Major. he flew C-130's and B-52's during the Vietnam conflict. My mother is from Brisbane Australia. Both my parents are registered Republicans.

The reason I joined this forum, is because I feel like my political knowledge about our country is sorely lacking. I'm a member on several car forums, and the one I frequent the most forbids any political discussion. So I did a google search and found uspoliticsonline.com. I felt like I needed an outlet to discuss matters of our country, and to view others perspectives.

I've recently called into question what exactly my political beliefs are. If you were to ask me if I was a democrat, or a republican. I would tell you that "I'm not really sure what I am". I feel like I believe in principals that are both liberal and conservative. I'm not really sure what I am, maybe you can tell me. Here are a few things that I believe in.

1. I believe that a woman should have the right to choose what she wants to do with her body. Would I support my fiance getting an abortion? Probably not.

2. I believe that marijuana should be legalized and taxed

3. I believe that AZ did the right thing by signing the immigration bill into law. From what I understand, it mirrors federal law which our government is failing to enforce.

4. I believe America belongs to it's citizens, not the federal government.

5. I believe very strongly in the 2nd amendment of the constitution. I believe there is a reason our founding fathers placed it 2nd next to freedom of speech. I believe that the 2nd amendment was that important to our founding fathers.

6. I don't think having political parties is a good idea. I think it does more harm than good. I'm more interested in the candidate, than in the political affiliation.

7. I voted for John McCain.

8. I think Sara Palin is an idiot and is not qualified to hold any office.

9. I believe in the constitution. I don't think it's ideals are outdated.

10. Our government is too big. It's too powerful. It intrudes into my life WAY too much.

11. Freedom was bought and paid for. It was never given. It is not a right. It can be taken away much easier than it can be won. Even in this modern age of "enlightenment", too many folks take this simple thing for granted.

So.....What am I?

Todd.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hi, I am 29, with a young son. I am a liberal by nature, but don't have complete liberal views. And I am trying to find a new board, if this place is good, I might bring some friends.
Peace to your mother!

Sounds like you're a reasonable person that takes the time to address things on a case by case basis, rather than sticking to party or ideological lines. Which is excellent. Welcome to the forum!
