Is this guy kinetic for real or is he a shill added by the Admins to generate participation? If he is for real...do they not have Mental Health Clinics in the Midwest?

That being said and considering the number of "ignores" on my list I think I'll continue solely in the "reader" mode.

The board encourages a wide spectrum of different political viewpoints. Most people here (I think) like the diversity because it allows interesting discourse. "Yes I agree" boards are boring if you like good debates that represent reality.

I hope you stay and participate, but otherwise, good luck.

With extremists, it never leads to "interesting discourse", those people just camp on their position and will always denies true facts...

I don't know how can this be "interesting", those people are so "interesting" that I gave up to read their posts or talk with them

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hi, I just discovered this place today....

I am a 27 year old conservative Republican of Irish descent... Born and raised in Richmond, VA, I have spent the past several years in Tallahassee, FL...

I believe in personal responsibility... I am pro-guns, pro-Bush, pro-death penalty, pro-choice (although I hold this stance because I am a male, and not because I agree with the practice of abortion) and anti-welfare....

Everything else, I'm sure you will come to learn in time....

Hank and Speaking Freely, as a matter of interest, does Irish refer to Ulster Protestant (Ulster-Scotch) descent?

Well, every branch of my family (that I know of) came from Ireland at one point or another... From all over.... My father's grandparents are from Dundalk..... Catholics... I still talk to my cousins over there... The rest of my family that I know of are from all over the island....

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

How can you be conservative and pro-Bush?

I thought conservatives believed in individual liberty and limited government? Bush clearly does not believe in either.

Yo. Call me by my screen name.

My Political stance is confusing and would be hard to explain in full as I have certain influences that would be tricky to explain. Ok, enough enigmatic trugery. My political-ness, in a nutshell, can best be described as "Striving to find the best solution FOR THE PROBLEM, not for your party." Every problem is different. Every situation is unique. Sometimes the conservatives have the best Idea, sometimes the liberals have the best Idea.

Too often people look at a problem and try to find the solution that best benifints thier party offiliation or best fits in thier party's general beliefs. I think that's just dumb. Not only that, but too often people see things in black and white. Many believe that a proposition/action/plan/politician/strategy is either golden or crap, never in between.

It is a mistake to just blindly "follow the leader". On the flipside, it is also a mistake to automatically disagree with whatever the leader says. Our oppinions and thoughts on a concept should be based on the merits of the concept itself, not on who presented it.

party offiliation=free thinker

Well, it depends on how you look at it. Bush believes in "freedom" and "Liberty" because he says those things a lot. It's all in the semantics, really. If you believe "Freedom" involves killing lots of people and "Liberty" involves taxation than Bush is your guy!

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I wish I hadn't said anything, as this is one thread where I should have kept my mouth shut.

We all have different views and even though I am not happy right now with either political party, this thread is too introduce ourselves, as we have hundreds of other threads for debating politics.

Bush has some good points, like he has a thick head of hair. He has a nice golf swing.

Quite a combination - no doubt you will elaborate on other threads?

I was curious, thanks for the translation. Indeed, revolutionaries are always supreme romantics!
