Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hi all

A new debater here, I am known as SightZ on www.canadianpoliticsonline.com

I was tempted to join your forum in order to discuss some matters, especially since dcoltonbrown's postings on our forum were incredibly misinformed, biased and insignificant , just to clear some things up...

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hi everyone. My name is Malcolm, I'm 23 years old, newly single, and living in my hometown of New York City. I am the son of a working class man from Newark, NJ and a highly educated woman from NYC. I value my family and friends more than anything in my life, and I also think that owning pets is a necessity for those who want to be happy in life (especially dogs).

I was laid off in November working as a photographer for a studio just outside Queens in Nassau County, about 5min from JFK airport (just in case anyone here is from the area, and was curious). After I got laid off I got really upset with the competitive work world, and I am now in the process of submitting law school applications, and studying hard for my 2-12-05 LSAT.

Politically, I am a mixed bag. Let me say that I consider myself a realist, meaning I only like realistic solutions to difficult problems, not ideas way out of left field. I am anti-abortion, but violently Pro-Choice, as I believe that while there is a possibility that a woman may be raped it is a necessary right for her to have. Like some of you on this forum, I too am worried that America as a nation will no longer exist in my lifetime. I believe that there is such political polarization in this nation that there will be violent revolutions in the future, and A new nation or most likely nations will be formed. Like my 100% cold-blooded Norwegian grandmother, I too believe America should not be one nation, but rather it should be many nations, because we are growing to hate each other more and more by the day. I am highly supportive of the personal freedoms afforded the American citizens by the Constitution, all except the right to bear arms, as I have witnessed way too much bloodshed in the streets of our nations cities to support it.

I first became interested in politics because I am from Harlem, and as a child I basically realized the differences in my neighborhood and the ones in the "nicer" parts of town. I believe that despite the mask we put on, America is still a very racist place, and while I'm on the subject of evil, I believe that Capitalism as a system is the root of many, if not all of the great evils in the world.

I am an environmentalist who believes that the exploitation of the environment and the resources it provides will result in big time food shortages as the world becomes more and more overfarmed, and crowded. I am highly against the use of pesticides and hormones, and try to eat only organic produce, and meat.

I believe that America is our own worst enemy, and we will cause our own literal or political destruction. I also believe that America is too arrogant, and needs to take a more isolationist stance in the world of today, because people are beginning to hate us way too much.

My hobbies include travelling, Martial Arts, DJing, and scuba diving, as well as snowboarding. I think that Baseball is the greatest game ever invented, and unfortunately, money and steroids are making it begin to suck. Way to go SOX!!

Some of my favorite political figures in world history are in no particular order: Bill Clinton (smoothe as ice), Malcolm X (admitting you are wrong for being involved with something after being so committed to it is an amazing indication of charachter), Ted Kennedy (he fights for what he believes in, and isn't fake, I really admire that), Martin Luther King Jr. (he is tha king), F.D.R. (in my opinion he is the best president in US history and a fellow New Yorker), and Yitzhak Rabin (he gave up his life to try to make peace). That isnt all, but more will come to me.

I hope anybody reading this has a better idea of who I am, sorry if it's all over the place, but it's the best I got, I'm really tired.

-Malcolm

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I'm going to start a thread so people can give their own opinions on who their favorite political figure is. Look out for it if you're interested.

It might delight you if I tell you most of this forum who saw his posts don't give a shit anyways.

There's no point, there would be too many censored words.

Hello all,

I found this site via Google and signed up - I'm interested in broadening my knowledge on US Politics and current affairs in general over there.

I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland, support the mighty Celtic Football Club in Glasgow and enjoy music, reading, cinema and current affairs. Married with a very understanding and patient wife and a 2 year old cat who has a lot to say for himself...!

Best wishes,

37-year old husband (17 years) and father of 3 (boy, girl, boy). Former US Marine (Russian linguist and Marksmanship Instructor) and ex-cop (city). Currently, an I.T. Manager with a major media and auto industry outlet.

Politically? No label applies since I don't subscribe all views of any party. I question most everything and attempt to challenge "tradition" as often as possible. I look for way for improvement in everything, including myself.

I look forward to the varying points of view.

Welcome to the forum.

Don't worry, someone will stick a label on your pretty quick around here. After all, we wouldn't want you to feel left out.

You won't be let down on the varying points of views either. They range from the far looney left to the wacky wide right. Enjoy!
