Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hi y'all,
I am, in no particular order:
A 38 years old, married with 2 kids (5 and 2.9), leftist Congregationalist from Western Mass.

I've been active, on and off, on another board for a couple years. Most everyone there is generally leftish, and I'm interested in an exchange that includes some more differing viewpoints. (It's not a debate if you all agree before you start, eh?)

After sifting through a few boards full of hostility and bad grammar, I Googled for "civil political discussion", and here I am.

Post Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello. I am a 17-year old high school student from the middle of nowhere. And I mean that literally. The closest city is 45 minutes away an' it's got a population of about 86,000. I am very new, just joined today. I am a conservative and a strong Christian. I was on another board for a few months and I really enjoy a good discussion. Because I'm still rather young, I tend to stray off the subject a bit,(espcially if it's over my head ) but bear with me.

I enjoy:
Reading-voraciously!
Playing music-anyone here play a hammered dulcimer? Let my know if you do.
Running and weight training-Running a half-marathon this summer and a marathon this fall

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Software developer by day, political forum enthusiast by night.

I'm a 33 year old, gun-loving Republican from the great state of Kentucky. Married 10 years with 1 child, well travelled and quite conservative. After participating on a local forum provided by our news channel, I was up for a greater challenge. Soooo here I am.

I enjoy reading [primarily military history and political science], forums [duh!] and a nice day at the firing range

Lightbulb Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

The abnormal American Here, here being Saudi Arabia . When not working in the desert I call China home... at least for the last 4+ years. A full time ambassador of good will for the US, doing my best to dispell media disinformation and Hollywood Hype about what the the US is and isn't, likewise my adopted home of China.

I've lived and worked with people from more than 2 dozen countries and most like me are citizens of an ever-shrinking world. It's amazing to have witnessed the huge change in people's attitudes as W. has single-handedly trashed America's image abroad, bankrupted our economy, and shredded the constitution in the name of "The Patriot Act". George Bush is silmultaneously the most Feeble-minded, illiterate, and dangerous man ever seated in the Oval office. He's Nero incarnate, fiddling away opportunities, and incompentant to manage anything, least of all, what is still the greatest nation on Earth. No one could less represent the true quailities of Americans than W. It's why I feel safer in China or my barbed-wire enclosed compound in Saudi than back in the US. All this from a registered republican, NRA member, and Christian... I've just had an education from outside the box and the border. I hope it's not too late for others to learn.

Hm, well, nice to meet you xiamenbill. It'll be interesting reading about your experiences as a citizen of the world rather than of a country

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello, I'm an 18 year old Georgia native. To understand my viewpoint one must first understand that I feel that people are stupid. I won't sugarcoat it or elevate it with lofty linguistics. With this understanding of my mindset, you can also understand how I see no need to put some stupid people in positions of power over other stupid people. When one stupid person presumes to be less stupid than someone else, someone's toes get stepped on. Why, in my blindness, would I trust someone who, for all my knowledge, is just as blind if not moreso than myself, to make my decisions for me? I'm perfectly capable of ruining my own life, I do not need an ignorant "big brother" doing it for me. Don't expect me to be tolerant of anyone advocating more social programs or higher taxes for the wealthy. Live your own life in the land of freedom. If you want a bigger cookie than has your neighbor, work to get it. Don't think for a second he owes you half of it.

Hello! I support Bush. I will try to convince others, but this may take many years. Maybe long after his presidency.

Hi, I'm living in London, England and have just 'stumbled' upon your forum. I don't think I fall neatly into any particular political category and hopefully never will

I look forward to interacting with you folk, maybe ruffling a few feathers along the way too

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hey.

I'm an 18 year old high school senior in New York, NY. I plan to go college next year and pursue Islamic Studies and Arabic Literature. My political views are by no means static, but I am a Liberal Democrat. I am not a populist, rather I am sort of a political elitist. I am deeply embarassed by the Bonkerist left who constantly scream like idiots and push a pan-liberal platform rather than focusing on particular problems. I would say I hate knee-jerk liberals more than Republicans. I spend most of my days smoking and being grumpy. I look forward to fighting tooth-and-nail with everyone here.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hi. I'm from the older section of town. I'm in my 50's. Can't quite remember though. I'm originally from NY; spent most of my married life in New England; now we're living in South Carolina. All the moves were quite shocking as you can imagine. But I still root for the Yankees.

You'll probably find most of my comments somewhat sarcastic (that's because I think I'm funny). But I mean well.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Early 30's male in a suburb of Portland, Oregon USA. IT project manager for a fortune 500 transportation firm. Married dink.. (double income no kids...though working to change that )

Travel internationally for work. Enjoy learning about new cultures. Moderate Liberal and proud of it. Socially liberal, fiscally conservative, in favor of a strong defense and longing for an intelligent foreign policy.

Very tired of traveling overseas and having to be embaressed of where I come from. I never felt that in the Clinton or even the Bush senior administration. The United States is full of generous intelligent people and unfortunatly we are represented by a small minded little ape man with bad manners. (as a Chinese guy I met in Beijing described Bush)

Looking forward to the return of the moderate republicans. The ones I used to be able to talk to on a rational level. In these days of partisanship I am pretty sick of the extreme right as well as the exteme left.

If approached congenially or even just intelligently I will respond in kind.
