Hello! Bonjour! I am MangezDeLaMerde, and that's French, but I was born in and still live in the United States of America. Among my interests are politics and French, of course; but they extend to other areas like philosophy, Web design and development, computer programming, writing, drawing, psychology, swimming, bike riding, tennis, and more.

I don't take kindly to people who call France a cowardly nation. Please remember it takes courage to stand up to the most materially powerful country at this moment and say non. Unwavering agreement is more a sign of a sycophant than anything.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Welcome.

Im normally on the good side with the French people, but thanks to his latest food related comments I now despise Chirac

Seriously, better be ready to see some french bashing here. It seems to be the favorite hobby of some americans But dont take it seriously, they are just pissed, because everybody else keeps kicking their beloved US.

Welcome to the forum. As the official French antagonist, I look forward to slamming France every time you slam the US. We believe in "fairness and equality" here.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I guess I must be proper and introduce myself.
My name is Ryan, and I'm currently a college student that will be heading off to Japan very soon by means of an exchange program. I must confess that I came to the boards to vent some of my anger; I just hate seeing men like Bush(and friends) lead the U.S. and the world down the wrong path.
I'm republican, but will vote for the issues I believe in. I must also confess that I haven't followed politics as much as I should, but I've been extremely busy in my studies(actually my study habits include mostly sleep).
side-note:
I can only hope that the majority of the population today will start thinking about domestic policies as much as they talk about terrorism these days(out of sight, out of mind).
side-note #2:
People like Dean make me ignore democratic party events.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Yay, finally registered...I've been lurking and reading a lot for a couple weeks before jumping in (and I admit I will no doubt be a fairly light poster)

Personal info - my name is Jon, I am a small business owner, and I am a major online gamer.

Politically speaking, I have strong neo-conservative and fiscal conservative leanings. Socially, I generally don't care. As far as debating goes, my experience is limited to family and occasionally friends (which I must admit, I've used lots of information gathered from this site to aid the effort) So, as I mentioned before, I'm wading in slowly.

Anyway, hello everyone.

Bemused giggles. For the record, with respect to the infamous Iraqi vote at the UN Security Council, France indicated to the USA that they would abstain. Talk about backbone and standing up to say 'non' eh? It was a bit of a moot point because Russia had the balls to officially say 'no' to the USA.

Btw, how much courage does it take to abstain?

Indeed, I'm not a France basher, nor am I an American basher. What I will do is pop the balloons of nationalist self-importance - on either side of the pond. Welcome to the board.

A big welcome to you, Jon.
Man, you have guts. Debating your family and friends, and you still HAVE friends?

Wow!

I tend to be rather non-confrontational about all but a few issues, and my friends agree with me on those particular issues. Rather than debating the issue, we debate our reasons for coming to that particular conclusion =)

I was actually kidding. About 50% of everything I post here is something short of serious.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello all.

I found the site in a Google search, and liked the selection of forum headings and many of the topics. Politically, I'm not much of an ideologue, but have postions that run the gamut from left to right, so I'm sure I can annoy just about anybody in any party.

In any case, I can only post in spurts due to the nature of my job, this next couple of weeks being free, and hope to participate in some interesting discussions; I don't think debate is really possible on message boards, unless strictly moderated, and I also don't care much for cut and paste, other than references, preferring to talk to people, not web page excerpts, so I refer to topics as discussions, not 'debates'.

There are certainly some good posters here, and I hope to have an enjoyable time here.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Have been around here for a while but haven't found this thread until now... hmm...

Well, I'm a 17 (18 in a few weeks) and live in a shitty village in Norway. What I don't like is the ignorant people who are either interested in drunk driving, and the other fashion-concious who would rather go to a rave party, and thinks politics are "uncool". Hopefully they'll grow up and vote by the time they're 35. But don't count on it. I've been an anarchist for a looong time, but for much of my youth I didn't really know it, as I had the false impression that it was another world for chaos. I came to know myself as an anarchist when buying a Green Day CD, making me listen to older Punk (Pistols, the Clash etc) and knowing they were anarchist, I read a definition on it on the net, and swiftly knew this was what I was.

I'm currently going on school (last year before studying) equalling to american high school, going in a somekind of athletic-school. Goes to school in a minor city called Kongsberg. I don't like that city either, as most people I know is rather isolationist, but atleast they're not ravers. Not in my class anyway, almost no one cares about fashion, and that's good. When I get finished here I'm planning to get on to study history in the University of Oslo, and sooner or later (prefer sooner) take a PhD in history. There's not much that makes me want to stay here in Norway, hopefully I'll get to study somewhere else, but I am but a poor man trying to get forward in this world... money counts.

I am of nature one protecting the weak in many cases. That's why I often protect Nazism and the French, because everyone bash them, most of which because they are simply ignorant. They doesn't even know what Nazism is, but yeah, let's hate 'em! I do oppose Nazism and Fascism (the opposite of anarchism afterall), but I don't bash them just for the sake of it. Sometimes I have great fun bashing Bush or the USA more than they deserve, just to get reactions.

And yeah, I consider myself an anarchist, or socialist anarchist, thought I am not "pure" in any kind of anarchism. Like some people are not "pure" democrats or republicans. And my real name is Martin. But that's about what you gonna get
