Yes, welcome. Non- US viewpoints are good for the discussion (and I'll admit that I have a weakness for the accent..)

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Welcome swammer and welcome sunny.

The US government borrowed too much money from the Chinese government and when someone owes you a lot of money they resent you a little bit.

The US government is also worried that they might not be the biggest and strongest forever. China might become more powerful and that scares the US government.

The US government used to worry about the human rights violations that China has committed, but I think they are OK with that now, since they do it themselves.

I am glad you are joining us. I hope that you enjoy it here. Can I ask you a question? Is it true that the Chinese government does not allow you to search for some words on the internet? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4088702.stm
http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/globalvoices/?p=238

I am sorry this censorship is happening to you, I wonder if you can see this message?

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

,Hello,Samantha.you are so hospitable.Thank you.it seems america people real very good.

now ,I answer questions.

The US government borrowed too much money from the Chinese government and when someone owes you a lot of money they resent you a little bit.
---------------
I know US government borrowed too much money from the Chinese government. In China's newspaper and TV programe, they tell us that we don't worry about break war between China and US,Cause China and US like two guys climb hill, they help each other,if some one drop down, anothter will drop down too.so it will not break war between China and US.
I expect so,peace,no war.

The US government is also worried that they might not be the biggest and strongest forever. China might become more powerful and that scares the US government.
-------------------------------
we know this.US is a big, great country,In the second world war, with American and other friendly country's help,China win the war agaist Japanese(In China,we call this war"Anti Japanese")(as you know,in 1937,There was a masscre happened in Nan king city,China .Japanese killed more then 300,000 Chinese people in one month).and so many US pilot came to China to help us,some of them were dead in the war.we remember them.we will not forget them.
but i want to say,China is in the far east,US is in the western,it's too far.some american said that China is a threat,I don't think so.to tell the truth,we will not invade any country,we will not threat any country.China has 5,000 years history, from 1840 year UK invade China to 1979 year,Chinese people were very poor.since 1979,China is beacome powerful. Why?because everyone knows:money is the important.
War go far away.
Chinese people don't like war,we like money.we make money by work,Business,BUT NOT WAR!
i hope US and China could be friendly country.

the US government used to worry about the human rights violations that China has committed, but I think they are OK with that now, since they do it themselves.
---------------------------------------------
Human rights?I know what you want to say.we can talk it later……^_^

Is it true that the Chinese government does not allow you to search for some words on the internet?
----------------------------
yes,it's truth.I can't visit the first web adress you give me,but i can visit the second
http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/globalvoices/?p=238

we can't talk about Tianmen(June.4.1989).and we can't say any bad word about communist(my english is poor,do you understand me?)
My father is communist, but he is do business now.
I am not communist

Welcome sunny. My husband will be visiting China soon. If I ask him to bring me a present from China, what should I ask for?
He will be in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. I have to be specific or he will be lost and bring nothing.

Welcome sunny.

As you can see, there are not only Americans on this forum. There are also quite some Europeans here.

I think thats an enrichment for this forum, many different views on many different issues.

Nice that a Chinese found his way to this forum.

Do you like Chinese cheong-sam(the girls wear in the below picture),if you like ,he can buy it in the three city, but it's expensive,it will cost you about $400(RMB3200)or more

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Sunny,
Thank you for the suggestions. Perhaps something small to fit in his luggage and something I can pass on to my children. We have two daughters.
I have a hand made silver bracelet from Gambia, a small blanket from Bahrain, and opals from Australia, for instance.

He brought my daughter a beautiful Sari from India. If I'm not mistaken, the lady in the center (in white), is the Indian movie star. ?

Our youngest daughter practices Gung Fu. Maybe something related to this.?

We have many things from China in our home already...(this is a joke, you should be laughing ).
