Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!
Hi All,
I just signed up to join the community and I am excited to become an active member. I have been meaning to get involved with U.S. Politics for a long time and now I am happy that I finally have. I am from DC and love to get my hand dirty with Politics. But I most like to hear smart people (smarter than me) hash out the issues. |

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!
I'm 29 now, and this week makes it two years that I've been on this site. I live in Toronto, Canada. I'm half French, half American. I'm an actor and a writer, and I love travelling and movies. I know more about movies than I should. My DVD collection stood at just over 200 when I joined this site, but it's at 370 now. There was a time when I thought that that special shelving unit I bought solely for DVD's would last me forever since I couldn't possibly collect that many movies, but alas, I now have three makeshift boxes that I found that are rectangular in shape. One box has my favorite movies of every year going back to 1990, the other two boxes are titles of "overlooked" movies, meaning those that flew under the radar for one reason or another, like the wonderful Junebug, or Tully, or Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...Spring from Korea.
My favorite band of the last couple of years is, by far, Interpol. There from New York City, and their sound has been compared to a cross between Bowie, Joy Division, and the Smiths. Personally, I think they sound familiar but unlike anything I've ever heard. It's like shooting stars and pulsating rhythms and that happy/sad feeling you get when you meet someone who connects with you beyond words. Anyway, that's it for me, for now. |

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!
Hi! I'm new. I'm from North Carolina. I'm joining this board because my family and friends are starting to go crazy because I talk to them about politics all the time! Seems like this place makes a good outlet

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!
Hola! Buenas dias.
Me nombre is Seamus, but everyone calls me jim or jimmy. I am 37 years old and am currently a doctoral candidate in Economics at one of the University of California campuses, I am almost done and will be off to law school after that. I was a dual major Econ and English, and I have a master's in Economics as well. I am probably best described as a pugnacious conservative Republican with strong libertarian leanings. I don't believe in taking away any of the rights that were "creator endowed" and embodied in the US Constitution. I am pro-life, anti-death penalty, devoutly Roman Catholic (and practicing), single, and my cat died of leukemia two months ago. He was 18 years old and was named Whooper Jet Poopie (the one and only). He could do tricks better than most dogs, but I love doggies too, and kitties. I hate squirrels and would love a way to eradicate/banish them from my garden. I never back down from a good argument, and I get more than my daily supply of fiber so I am very regular.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!
Hi all!
Hello from Ottawa, Canada! I love talking politics with family and friends, and I'm always interested in hearing a new point of view. Occasionally, someone will even convince me to change my mind about something. ![]() I'm an electrical engineer, and I'm particularly interested in Canada-US relations, technology issues, immigration, security, economics, and intellectual property. I look forward to reading your opinions, and debating the issues with all of you. Ironically, the one thing for which I have no tolerance, is intolerance. I will not debate anyone using racial slurs, or any other form of intolerance. |
