Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Well, first of all, I was going to get to know a bit about you all more by reading through the entire thread but then I saw that there were 33 pages. So, I apologize for submitting my intro to my existance, without throughly reading through all of yours. Lets see, I'm 21, and going to be 22 in September. My current job is in retail, Kmart, though I'll no doubt be leaving it soon. My social life isn't exactly what you call active, besides my imediant family, I've nobody and presently single without ever being married.
I'm half deaf, been so since born, moved around 13 times or so since eight years old and only been here in Jacksonville since 2004. Hopefully this will be the last move, and then I can sort of branch out and actually live life. Instead of just interpreting it through books, flims, yada yada yada yada. So by 23 I'll be successful at the basic level, thats the plan anyway. Whee! Anyway thats about it, oh, names Ben by the way.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello

I joined the forum today, June 15/06.

I am married, my wife and I have 3 children, and the two cutest little grandchildren, and a third on the way. Looking forward to that blessed event.

Fairly young grandparents, though.

I enjoy a good exchange of political, and other, views and opinions.

I am a Rhode Island conservative, with some moderate views.

Yes, there are still some conservatives in RI.

I look forward to participating in these lively discussions.

Thanks all.

Welcome. As a Conservative, you'll find this to be a "target-rich" environment.

Ditto on intros. Wow! Page 47!!!
Ha ha. Hey Ben. At 21 I was working at K-Mart, single and have 33% hearing loss. (I was going through some type of stagnation rut thingy. It ended when disco came out in 72.)

I didn’t start college till I was 24 where I met my wife I married at 25...
I was mostly a pretender till I got my arts degree. (Lied on resume and learned on the job.)
First skilled job was as an electronic technician which placed me in the medical R&D field for half of my life. After that went into industrial mechanic/industrial electricity and my last job was as an Iron worker building platforms and safety rails at a power plant. (Just after I left, 2 on the crew I worked with were killed when a water tower they were working on collapsed…)
I retired 4 years ago at 45...

I'm new.

I'm 27. I have a degree in Philosophy from Virginia Tech with a minor in Psychology. I'm an agnostic heathen (pagan) and I enjoy discussing religion in all its many forms. I work from home, but spend most of my time reading and studying philosophy, political science, psychology, and current events. Yes, I'm lots and lots of fun. I take vacations though, to cut loose.

O.o

Wow, somebody answered, thought nobody would answer. As for the stagnation rut, yeah, I can relate (Though I plan to get out of that sometime this year). The only thing I can't relate to is the whole disco thing. Hopefully you mean thats when you started shooting people for dressing like they did and dancing to that thankfully dead music? If not, I think I'll pass on your retelling of you oldies being "weird".
By 23 I hope to be where you were at 24, this year is going to be mostly gearing up to getting to that point. So yeah, I'm a bit delayed, mostly because moving around so much can make you loose your focus. I have no impressive skills myself, I can do the norm with computers these days (Ya know, take 'em apart, put them together, yada yada yada and eventually I'll learn to program). Though I doubt I'll be able to catch up with the youth, seems they're doing that sorta stuff at younger and younger ages. Anyway the only thing I think I'm good at is solving problems, ya know by analyzing the whys and why'nots.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Greetings!

I just joined a few minutes ago. This looks like a well visited political forum and I hope I can add to the general discourse.

About me: I'm a native Californian, father of one, husband of one, software engineer for a video game company, small business owner (with the wife) of a health center.

Politically, I'm a libertarian and radical individualist. I'm an active member of the Libertarian Party though I try to stay local. I love a good debate!
