Politically, I'm a libertarian and radical individualist. I'm an active member of the Libertarian Party though I try to stay local. I love a good debate!
Welcome. Lots of fresh liberal meat here to debate.

What's up everyone? Just introducing myself. How bad is the conservative and liberal beef here?

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Well lets see. I'm a 28 year old guy working full time and taking classes on the side which basically means it's taking forever to get any kind of degree though I'm shooting for one in English. I can't say that I'm really either Democratic or Republican though I suspect that I lean more towards the former then the latter. I go more with my own personal feelings and intuitions then any party mentality that casts my vote one way or the other.

I'm agnostic primarily because I feel that most established religions are a sham that divides people into categories of "us" and "them". The idea that only a "good" Christian, Baptist, Islamic, or whatever is good and by definition that makes everyone else "evil" frankly irritates me as narrow thinking. Come to think of it most religions are political entities by definition... I wonder if that makes me an anarchist?

At any rate I enjoy a good political discussion and have an avid interest in military tactics and strategy. Since a great deal of "war" is politics I figured I'd bounce my views off everyone here and see what you think.

Ha ha, cool. That’s the way I did it. I didn’t even start college till I was 25. I was studying mechanical drafting about the time electronics went through the roof. I got a ground floor job at a company that had 100% tuition reimbursement and changed my major to electronics.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Geez, haven't had the chance to introduce myself, but here goes, I'm a high school junior in San Fransisco, and although I identify with myself as a liberal, I have a job that is ocassionally considered condradictory to my political standpoint ... it's my job to teach the younguns down at the local firing range proper gun safety and target shooting. I am overseen by several others who monitor my teaching skill. I even just qualified to make the range's marksmen's team for the prone position, yay. It's a nice job to even if I only get to use a .22 caliber rifle.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

That’s still liberal in old school. The right to bear arms is just as important as any other constitutional guarantee. In fact, my high school had a weapons room and shooting team.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Salutations,

New to the board.

A little about myself. Im a 38 year old happily married male. I dont drink smoke or do drugs.

Last year I decided to sacrafice everything for my family. Late one night my wife says to me honey Id like to join the Air Force. I said if thats what you want and that was that.

I closed down 2 sucessful stores a used car lot and a car stereo shop. So my wife could pursue her dream. We are conservative and believe no one should raise our children but me and my wife. So I became the stay at home dad. Its not easy being a patriot and giving up financial wealth but its the best decision I ever made. My wife glows now.

She started as a Captain and works as a nurse at Lackland AFB. She took a massive pay cut joining the military also. Nurses make 40 an hour with her skills in the civilian world.

I guess it all comes down to what you believe and if you are willing to test your convictions and live the life at your word.

My wife is a cuban korean. She was the first in her family born in america. Her father died in Cuba. Her mother was alone and raised 4 children as a single mother. She followed the rules they came to America the legal way the right way. The whole family worked hard though poor they were happy.

I met my wife after the Gulf War. I was in the Air force stationed at Homestead AFB as a dog handler. I was enlisted. When the war was over I got out of the military we broke up. I was to young and foolish to marry her then. We split up.

We talked off and on for the next 10 years. I even went to Washington DC to see her. She was playing at the white house in an ensemble (she plays flute.) She was dating someone else and saw me as a friend.

Well we both went though some relationships but never got over each other.

10 years later she decided to call me. Her mother passed away. I guess her mother always liked us together. She got her wish. Best decision I made in my life.

So now im not wealthy, im not popular, But im happy. Thats all seems to matter.

We have 2 kids and one on the way. Wife was going to iraq but now delayed do to child on way.

Unlike what the media says she want to go to iraq to help the wounded soldiers. You ask anyone in her unit at Lackland they all say the same thing they want to go. Many people volunteered for her slot for iraq when they heard she was pregnant.

I started reading this board and see many points of view. Im open minded and listen to all. Those that listen get wise. those that just talk ... do just that

As you can see im no scholar im not very articulate and type poorly.

I hope you understand this when i post my points of view

Great intro.
My best to you and your family and Godspeed to your wife. You both sound like true patriots.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

OK folks, I think we need a greeter like Walmart. Where's the old fart - we could make him stand here at the door all day.

I hate to see so many interesting people join up, post one introduction and you never see them again.
