Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Greetings, everyone. I'm a 49-year old male, with a keen interest in military history, but a social liberal in some aspects. No particular axes to grind. I'm also a musician. The Rolling Stones are my favorite band. Pleasure to make everyone's acquaintence.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Name is Lawson Smith. Not my real name. Don't like to deceive on here, but the object is to debate, right?

I like a good discussion...trolls don't bother me...use the same bug spray on mosquitoes and gnats....

Look forward to Republicans actually debating. Great forum. Hi to all who've come before me, and to all who come in afterwards.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I suppose I should leave an introduction here before I get too many little stars.

There you have it.
I like lite debate as it keeps my brain working and expands my perspective. I try to avoid especially thorny topics (abortion, religion, ect) but occasionally succomb to temptation.
I've pretty much come to accept that very few people have their minds changed because of logical debate, especially if they are among the active debaters. That just doesn't seem to be how people work, myself included naturally. However one of my greatest joys is finding common ground: that rare sliver of thought where opposing worldviews find agreement.

Welcome.

I'm still adjusting to this new definition of "steak". I've spent the past few years working in Arizona where "steak" meant a big slab of dead cow, not a glorified sandwich. But I'm working on adapting. When in Rome...
