Hi, I'm Dirty and I've been offline for 4 hours. I'm here because I'm addicted to message boards. The internets is ruining my life. I was referred here by Backstreet Girl. Nice to meet all of you.

It "graunches" you?

It was a term one of my uncles used. He was a keen sportsman as well as a keen spectator. If you have ever seen a rugby game where all the players pile up on top of one poor bugger, who usually has the ball, it is the bloke underneath it all is being 'graunched'!

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Let's see, about me: I live in San Francisco, so despite my politics being all over the map they're clearly influenced by the progressive culture and landscape to which I am exposed. I'm into health and happiness, work in nutrition, here to learn more about politics and discuss some of the issues I'm familiar w/ and somewhat passionate about (food policy, war on drugs, energy, censorship). Nice to be here!

Welcome to our forum, spiritedaway
. I live in Sydney, Australia, San Francisco's sister city (for almost 40 years now). Though landscape-wise our two cities are alike, culture wise Sydney is no longer as progressive as it used to be. Today, it's a commercial hub. Still, the Greens polled very well in Sydney in recent State elections here, and thousands of people took part in "Earth Hour" on Saturday, an action when people were asked to switch off lights and appliances to raise awareness of energy saving.

See you around the forum.

Hello, looks like a very active forum. I hope to be able to stop by and express my humble opinions from time to time.

I notice your 'location'. You know what they say, if you go to far to the right, you end up left, and vice versa!

BTW you won't find my 'humble opinions' around here!!

Welcome!

spirited, welcome.

I'm in Melbourne, Australia, not Florida, but I lived for several years in Wellington, NZ. Very similar to SF in topography and also earthquake-friendly! Visited SF in '99 and loved it. Hope to return one day for a visit to the wineries. (Love my wine).

LOL. I was watching the original film of Buffy the Vampire Slayer whilst killing time this afternoon. After the vampires attack a school dance one of the students is being interviewed and he is describing the attackers with something along the lines of...

Evil oozed out of them, their eyes were blank and their cruelty was unbelievable...I think they were young Republicans!

Some of the Republicans on this board certainly live up to that description!!

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

First of all just a Hello from me Hello

Im a 18 year old (Young but i hope nobody holds my age as a argument agaisnt me) student from England. At the moment i am studying History. My primary historic interests is American history. I love sports and play as many as possible. I love American sports and im a avid Yankees and Cubs fan aswell as a Jets fan and to a lesser extent a Knicks fan. Football of course is Englands main game so i have a interest there aswell, Norwich City (doubt many have heard of them) aswell as wanting to see Man United do well.
I like many things, music especialy and can listen to any kind, Jazz and Classical aswell as Soul and R N B. I dont like Genre's i like individual songs.

As far as political feelings are concerned, i am more interested in US politics than i am UK politics. Although in the Uk i will be voting for the Liberal Democrats. I am Pro Abortion and Pro Gay Marriage. I say let people do what they want to do. I am a very strong supporter of Barack Obama as you probably have guessed. I support his policies and his all around attitude and view to the United States.

Lastly happy to have found a place like this, so far i have seen very interesting discussions being conducted very maturely. The amount of times i have been to forums and seen petty fighting.

Look forward to sticking around and celebrating when Obama is elected President

Just forgot to say that i have been trying to start a few topics but it doesnt seem to be allowing me to do it. Anyone know why this is?

I dont think you will find much evil from me. My location is intended as humor as I dont believe there ever was a "vast right wing". So I guess you could say I am located in an unknown space.

Again thank you for the welcome and now I am off to hopefully make some substantial posts.

Hello Obama08. Welcome to our forum.

I live in Sydney, Australia.

Yes, this forum is good. I used to be in an awful forum before this.

I also love American history, and last year I did a course here at a community college that covered the era from the Great Depression to WWII. It was fascinating.

Yes, I understand what you mean when you say that you are more interested in US politics than what takes place at home. I mean, I take an interest in the local stuff, but there is a magnetic thing about US politics, I think.

I totally agree with you about Barack Obama. I was captivated by his speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

On the question of starting topics, a new rule was made earlier this year that new members must wait 30 days (and have at least 30 posts to their names) prior to being eligible to start a new thread. However, you can send a PM to any of the mods to request an exemption. Try Crystal.

Good to see a young fellow like you take an interest in politics.

Tethys
