Hi everyone,

I've been reading in this forum for a while, and hope to contribute soon.
I'm interested in all issues of humanity, and believe these issues are rarely black and white, and think a clear vision should detect which shades are darker than others. I don't think along any party lines, but take a stand on my personal convictions and reasoning. I look forward to exchanging my views here. This seems like a diverse, civilized forum.

I am a registered independent, although I definitely lean towards the right. I should and probably register Libertarian soon. You know where I'm from, but I plan on moving out West one day.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello!

I'm Zarathoustra, 25 years old, from Normandy (France). I 'm studying in Paris (it's the fifth and last year of my studies ).
So I'm a french citizen, but not only: I'm an italian citizen too, because of my father, italian. So french is my mother language and France my country, but I love Italy too and I'm fluent in italian: so maybe I'll speak with you in french or italian...because I often have problems when I want to speak english
So please, not laughing when I'll try to speak with you...
I consider myself as a "socialiste" = moderate left in France, so in the USA, I think I will be considered as a very democrat person.

See you later

In the USA, the "moderate left" of France is considered "radical left"- basically a "commie"! So watch out!!

Welcome to the forum~!

There is a radical left in France, the communists, but I don't share with their ideas.

Well that don't matter. In the US, you're either a commie or a terrorist! (sometimes they are synonyms applied interchangeably....)

Just kidding. But you'll see what I mean after being here for a little bit longer.

Welcome, Zarathoustra! I'm pretty happy at the growing number of French users on this site. It makes me blush

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello all,

After lurking in the shadows for the past couple of days and determining that this forum isn’t polluted with the same low-brow, hate-filled mudslinging I’ve found on most other political discussion sites, I’ve decided to come out and play.

I’m a 37-year-old male, happily married with three kids. My vocation is journalism, but a career in the mass media has always been unappealing to me. So I serve as the editor of a technical trade magazine.

I’m also a first-generation American. My father came from Hungary to the US in 1957 at the age of 17, later joined the US army, and was stationed in Germany, where he met my mother (a German native). When his enlistment ended, they returned to Chicago, and I was born soon after.

Growing up with European parents who themselves are from different countries has given me a somewhat unusual perspectives on what it means to be an American and about US society (and politics) in general. But I’ll save those perspectives for future posts. I’d characterize myself as socially liberal, morally progressive, and fiscally conservative--in general, just a little left of center. I’m not affiliated with any political party or religious group and prefer to keep it that way.

I’m proud to call myself a Kentuckian after having lived in the Bluegrass State for the last 20+ years. I was stuck in suburbia for most of my life, but I’m happy to say that I now live in a rural area where people stay out of other people’s business and treat one another with respect. It’s the kind of place where folks always wave a friendly greeting when passing, whether they know you or not.

For the majority of my life, I’ve been apolitical. But all that changed thanks to the current administration and the latest war in Iraq. I like the intelligent comments (from both liberals and conservatives) that I’ve seen on this site, and I’m impressed by the mix of ages and nationalities represented here. Looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you and reading yours.

Thanks for setting up this site, Marc!

Tom

P.S. - My user name would have been more accurate as SonofaMagyar, but that just didn’t seem as snappy.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello hello!

I'm Val- an independant liberal from the American heartland (pity me, I'm pro-gay-rights in Ohio). I already made two posts which I hope are well thought out and sensible, at least. I have to say I'm impressed with how well-informed everyone seems to be here, and overall how courteous people are. It's not very common in a political discussion forum. Heck, it's not very common at Capitol Hill.

I'm pleased to be a part of this and hope to make some intelligent contributions to the conversations already going on, maybe even start some of my own. I'm still not an expert in politics and the human race in general (are any of us though?) so I'll try to research and understand an issue fully before I go and shoot my mouth off.

Nice to be here,
Val

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I have been on the forum for a while. Maybe it’s time for me to post here.

Hi, I m Musoukyotou. I grow up in China, and I left the country many years ago and went to Edinburgh, Scotland for highschool. I love traveling & I consider myself to be very lucky that I have been to many countries. I speak fluent Cantonese & Mandarin. (Of course.) I speak a bit Japanese due a 3 months stay in Japan. (I’ll brush it up in the future.) and I also speak a tiny bit of German. (Classes that I took back in college, I loved it, will pick it up one day again.)

After college in Boston, US. I m in San Diego, California, working as an engineer. I don’t consider myself as a US Citizen (because I am not!) but I consider myself as a Bostonian! I love this country, I love its energy, I love the freedom, I love almost everything that this country offers!

I come here ‘cos I was looking for a place so that I can talk politics, I.R. issues with people that are also interested in these kinda subjects. So far, it has been a wonderful experience.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I'm a Canadian, play hockey and fight. I don't like stupid people. George Bush fits into that category. I'm a typical athlete, I love women and booz'n. I drink a lot, party waaay too much. My sex life is really active, I get it all the time. Littletoe looks hot.

My hobbies are golf, riding my K1200RS (fast), and looking at hot women.

That's about it. I'm bit of a smart guy, great IQ, I guess.

I'm a wild guy, that about sums me up.
