Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I am in the unenviable position of having to do a crash course in US politics so I can help teach it in a college in England. I am UK citizen and know little about the political traditon in the US.

The topic I need to know more about is the role of political parties and pressure groups. If anyone is able to answer questions from me to this site or knows anywhere else that could help then let me know.

Two party system dominance in the USA and explanations for the
absence of successful third parties.
Recent and contemporary organisation of political parties at federal
and state levels.
The ideologies and traditions of the Republican and Democrat parties
and issues concerning the main differences in their programmes and
policies.
Recent and contemporary internal divisions within the Republican
and Democrat parties and their effects.

I feel anyone of a particular race has ample people to choose from. I am very much ashamed of the average white American female right now. I would think that black females would be ashamed of black males in these times as well. Basically when you talk about politics your talking about race so let's just cut the bull. People mask themselves with religion but what it's really about is race. I've heard all the typical put downs and white bullying. I don't think it's fair as a minority that a white male can't discuss anything pertaining to my own kind. Whites as a whole also have children at a much slower rate. This is why white females should not be around other races that produce faster and is clearly why we will be extinct if we don't act now and continue to enforce our rights to exist as a people.
Welcome to USPOL.

But understand that since I am a parent of interracial children you are already on my shit-list so to speak.

Perhaps if you stick around for a while and rationally discuss these matters you might find yourself eventuaslly letting go of your ignorant racial prejudices.

Glad to see others speaking out for the right to love others regardless of something as inconsequential as skin tone.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Everyone has down years.

Remember the Pats/Bears Superbowl?

No Stanley Cup since 1972? Wow. Even I don't remember back that far...

OK, I'm a retired Air Force officer and Desert Storm veteran. I presently make my living in the health physics field. I'm a registered independent but generally conservative. I’m pro-choice, very pro-Second Amendment, and pro-capital punishment. I grew up in LA but presently live in red state America. When not tinkering with my car, I like to play games, especially wargames. See you around.

Welcome, Kevin.
I was registered independent until the last election.
I too am pro-choice, very pro-second amendment.
I am against capital punishment only because I sincerely believe our justice system is anything but just.
I guess I'm generally liberal and I grew up in a very small town in a very red state. Otherwise, it looks like we have some things in common.
It is always nice to have fresh blood, so to speak.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I'm an independent centrist - against capital punishment, against the war in Iraq, generally conservative on abortion, a realist on defence & crime, favour lower taxes. A family man with a fascination for US politics.
I'm watching the Presidential elections from afar and like Obama. I haven't yet found a Republican candidate that opposes the war in Iraq.

Talking Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Are there any liberal Republicans running for President this year? Or are the likes of Rockefeller, Anderson, & Ford a thing of the past?

Huckabee and Guliani are both liberal depending how you define the word.

I'm sure you will find a thread about this subject in the political arena.
