Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hmmm...what do you think of Kevin Keegan? (Your left wing views may be forgiven temporarily if you love the King).

Hummm...does berk do it justice? I'm a Forest fan, I can just watch replays of Burns and Lloyd hacking him in the 1980 Euro final...

I think newcastle have a deathwish. They can't defend so who do they appoint?

Didn't understand a word of that, but welcome to you (and all other newbies)!

We're a rowdy bunch, sometimes, but don't let the abrasiveness scare you away. Almost everyone here is, deep down inside, a good person.

Ah yes now i remember, the team we thrashed 5 zip to finish second on the final day of the season in 97 to qualify for the Champions League, while you got relegated. At least you manager got to slap someone. How's life in League 1?

Well that's the whole thing, we don't boring defensive play, we could relegated and we'llbe happy with Keegan (he won't pull a Clough and resign on us), we could concede 5 goals but be happy if we scored 2 or 3. We won't tolerate mediocre mundane crap like say, Forest fans do.

See this is indicative of the British folks...they are a lazy boring lot who never do anything to stand up for their feelings and prblems to anyone, they don't mind paying over a pound a liter of fuel or having to pay 8 bucks a day for a congestions charge but when it comes to something as big as a manager the crowds chanted with one united voice, roaring to Keegan's appointment.

It either shows how important he is and a lessen in how to get things achieved if you want change or that only our fans are actually vocal enough to get something done. The U.S. public wants to learn how to put pressure on corporations/government: take a look at the Newcastle fans.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hi, I'm dragoonster. 35, raised in Virginia and now in Cali for past five years. Political leanings are various, mainly libertarian and liberal, with some conservative bents on certain issues. Don't side with or belong to any particular party, though I tend to vote Democratic.

Fav. current US pres candidates: Kucinich (dem), McCain (GOP), third-party (who are they? The media certainly doesn't tell us--lousy media)

Most important personal issues: A consistent drug policy that treats alcohol, weed, nicotine, etc. all the same under the law. They hypocrisy drives me crazy. I only smoke btw.

Most important global issues: The conflict between local autonomy and Western hegemony. The lack of sufficient aid from the rich nations to the developing world, or that aid again being tied to Western ideology.

Go Redskins!

1972 i think was the last time we won a trophy actually....but yeah it has been a while. (UEFA cup though i think it might have been called the old Fairs cup back then).

Sure you guys have your two European cups but with the way the game revolves around money you'll never win or have the chance to win one again...i really hope you don't win promotion this year. Swansea will probably go up, i hope you and Leeds get relegated. No continuity in our games apparently (so you say) but you guys have the same teams year in year out, you need variation!

Yeah i'm sure you do like it...living in the Midlands!! Its not you who has to pay to drive everyday, this causes enourmous amounts of grief to our embassy staff and employees. (They don't pay it though).

Hello everyone,

Name is Attila and I'm a big fan of US politics with a particular interest in the Armed Forces of both our countries, Canada and the United States. Hope to build friendships here, and talk to those who have lived their lives in politics in hopes that one day I too might be able to realise a calling that I think I might have in my heart.

If you want to know me, feel free to ask any questions, and if you want my recent history, check out my website - The Hot Ramp and shoot me an email.

United have been at the top for nearly 20 years now, i hope the same thing happens to them as Forest (as Marsh predicted a few years before they came back last year) and in the end Ferguson resigns on the day they go down to thelower leagues. Leeds have been around too long, as we Forest, Evertone and Arsenal have been in the top flight over 50 years running too, new teams need to come up the like the Pikees in Stoke and Bristol City are doing well. Good riddance to the likes of Liverpool and Villa and co who have won numerous titles, success in Europe etc etc...new teams with new fans and stadiums in different parts of the country are required.

So how does the congestion charge in Central London effect you in London? If yoy had to pay nearly 20 bucks a day to drive (on top of gas, road tax, insurance etc etc) how would you feel?

Re: NEW HERE FROM WINDHOEK,NAMIBIA(AFRICA)

Hi all

I am new on this site and decided to introduce myself to the board. I am a 33 year old male living in Windhoek, Namibia (Africa), neighboring country of South Africa. I've been following the US politics these couple of days and probably because of the different candidates such as Barack Obama and Billary (lol).

I don’t have a specific candidate, but I like what Obama said about trying to change the way immorality seems to be preached through advertisements on billboards and on television.
May the best candidate win?

God bless
Christy

Hi, sweetmusicman. Welcome to the board. I'm in Sydney, Australia. I too like Barack Obama. A lot of Australians are following the U.S. elections with keen interest and quite a bit of intrigue. Is it the same in Namibia?

Yep,but i think for the main reason that for the first time in US Politics a black candidate has a very good chance of being the Democrate Candidate and ultimately becoming the US president.
