Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I am a 33 year old woman living in Melbourne, Australia, with a bizzare fascination with US politics. I am here to observe, make uneducated comments and (hopefully) learn.

The state of the US (politics, ecomony) greatly affects my country, and I find your politics far more interesting than Australia's, although I am more than pleased at our recent change of government here.

I look forward to learning more, and will fumble my way around the site like the computer-illiterate person that I am.

Nah, they did too much nationalizing of industry. Conservatives favor deregulation.

Henry ford didn't seem to have any problem with national socialism. I suppose you'll tell me he was a liberal, eh?

I wouldn't call a pioneer of welfare capitalism particularly conservative.

I'm pretty sure he didn't vote for FDR.

Is that a litmus test for conservatism?

What's the conservative take on separation of church and state these days?

Supreme Court?

I guess your right, Cyd. A benevolent employer couldn't possibly be a conservative.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

greeeeeeeeeeeeeetings...

or regreeeeeeeeeeeeeetings as the case may be and is...

back in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop in and see how much the ol' place has changed...

Pogo is sure looking as pert as usual... woohoohooo...

my canned intro for those of you who recall and for those of you I have not yet met:

I AM TheStripey1, peace tiger. I'm a recovering republican and a Viet Nam vet. Although I lean left on some issues, I am NOT a liberal and altho I lean right on other issues, I am NOT a conservative. I consider myself to be a centrist and my political party unafilliated independant. But since I am staunchly anti-bush, you will find me swinging from the left side of center more often than not.

I have lots of hot button issues that interest me so I imagine that I'll be making your acquaintence on the forums soon...

so uhhh, whaaaaaasup?

Make a thread, this is the introductions thread.

Speaking of which I haven't introduced myself yet.
I'm a Liberal living in the Conservative cesspool called Nebraska, no j/k the city I live in is pretty mixed politically and has a fairly large population of GLBT'ers like me (unfortunately I never get to meet any of them ).

I'm an avid environmentalist but I don't do any of that professionally.

Also I like Sci-Fi, adventure movies and anime. Deeply interested in Japanese culture, know quite a bit of Japanese. Music tastes range from Reggae, R&B and soul to classical, classic rock and goth. But I probably like any music that can get me dancing to the groove the best.
